Remember when the WBA had Fres William Oquendo rated for a ridiculously long time, for some reason?

Here's the deal: Charr sucks. If a 41 year old Oquendo can hold a past-prime Chagaev to a close MD in a loss, there's no reason not to think a 47 year old Oquendo could have a go-either-way fight with a past-prime Charr (who in his actual prime wasn't a pimple on prime Chagaev's ass).

This means, if what Dougie Fischer said proves legit, we could potentially wind up with Oquendo vs. Briggs for an actual, real heavyweight world title (technically, even though we all know the WBA means nothing if it ain't the Super) in 2020. That's...bananas.

I've been following this for, well, years now.

I think the best solution is for the fights that need to happen to clear this mess, just happen.

Ideally, a rising contender with backing seeks the WBA regular as a route to a big WBA unification fight ... and knocks out Charr/Oquendo/whoever along the way as warm-up fights.

Charr has his own interesting story but his facial hair in the WBA profile picture is overly groomed IMO.

...and if this were to happen, either Fres or Shannon (btw, those two were scheduled to meet in June of 2017 for the then-vacant WBA regular belt, but...for whatever reason it didn't happen) would have a chance to break the "oldest to win a HW title" record set by George Foreman - and that would just be a damn travesty, for Big George to live to see that happen. Not for either of those lumps..

Didn't they also actually make Fres vs Briggs around 3 years ago, only for a blood test to show Briggs had more testosterone in his system than a TRT clinic's stockroom?

    Edit: Yup; https://www.independent.co.uk/sport...thony-joshua-winner-steve-bunce-a7774311.html

What if it never happens? Will Fres be stuck in the rankings for eternity? At 89 years of age Fast Fres will be clamouring for the Charr fight with Briggs nonsensically mumbling something which sounds ominously like "let's go champ".

What if Fres never comes back? Will the contract have to keep them in the rankings, until death?

Imagine somebody beating up a rusty 50 year old feather-fist and having the gall to proclaim themselves a world champion. This is going to happen, eventually..

IB, you should post this on Twitter so that this argument can get shared. Boxing fans are fed up of this BS and what you have just said could trend and upset the apple cart. Do it dude.

I can already imagine Shadow and the rest of Canelo fan club telling us history is being made as Ruiz wasn't the real first Mexican heavyweight champ as he was American.

Briggs is talking about doing bareknuckle. We may be treated to the first unified bareknuckle—WBA champ.
