Stopped Hunter? It was ruled a draw with most people thinking Hunter edged it in a good close fight. I rate all three Whyte, Hunter and Povetkin very highly and if Whyte beats Povetkin I think Hunter vs Whyte would be a great fight. I wouldnt be against a Hunter vs Povetkin rematch either even if Povetkin lost to Whyte.

I guess what I mean was he derailed the hype train because Pov is 40 years old, whereas Hunter is young, game... caught Pov cold...went for broke... and still couldn't beat Povetkin so what made everyone think Hunter was going to take over the division if he struggled to convincingly beat Povetkin when he is 40 years old and very weathered?

Now if Whyte stops Povetkin, then it confirms Whyte as a level above Hunter, and will shut down the argument of Hunter being a level above Whyte.

AJ made short work of Povetkin, and it would happent he same way again if AJ rematched Povetkin.

Hunter is strong, im not saying he isn't but I am merely putting everyone in their respective lanes.

Don't forget Povetkin had Hunter stunned on the ropes, which held Hunter up.

Whyte needs get into shape after the dreadful performance against Wach,Povetkin is well past his best so I fully expect Whyte to win by KO in the middle rounds.

An in shape Whyte taking the fight into the later rounds and making it a war of attrition, should have too much for Povetkin.

If he can't get in shape, or if he in any way takes Povetkin lightly, then he'll lose.

completely agree, people talk Wilders right hand, but that left hook is a more prestigious shot to have in your locker imo, always has been in Boxing, harder punch to land but if its meaty it looks " A grade " as a finishing shot and his is as heavy when he can be arsed as theres ever been, MONSTER shot. I call him lazy for the simple reason he could've switched Del Boys lights out way sooner than he did. I will say this though Adaymn, hes capable of losing to a lesser fighter with his slobbery, but 100% fit and healthy he has a 50/50 shot with anyone, more even, right on his game and he could be world champ without a doubt. He scraped by Parker, who imo, if he wasn't such a Beta minded man could beat the current champs too, but yeah, I see the potential in Whyte like you do lol not many do though. Another thing that impressed me with him, when he was injured against Joshua and hurt, he was out on his feet but he was desperately trying still

Povetkin was probably about 55-60% of what he was in his prime going into the Hunter fight and the punishment he took in that one would've taken a bare minimum of 15-20% of him (going 12 hard rounds against Michael ''The Bounty'' Hunter will do that to a healthy man in their prime, let alone a senior citizen) but it could be a lot higher given his age.

Yep luckily Whyte never takes anyone lightly or overlooks. And even when the odds are stacked against him or he aint in the best shape he can still pull upsets... he just always ready to fight his heart out... beast

Whyte has also got mileage on him with his wars against AJ, CHISORA, PARKER, RIVAS...

Those guys came in S U P E R M O T I V A T ED to take Whytes head off..... Povetkin has only fought one guy with that level of motivation = Hunter... when Hunter went for broke.

But Whyte had that sheer agression at him from real heavyweights, real big thick... full bodied men...

Rivas was throwing his HARDEST shots in the opening round... you know when you get a guy to show off on the boxing machine and they take a run up and go WILD... Yeah rivas was doing that to Whytes head.

So Whyte has been in bigger wars. Especially Chisora vs Whyte 1

People talk about beta Parker not showing animosity.... well he showed ALL his New Zealand rage in the opening rounds where he is twice as fast as Whyte in hand speed... and used up all his power in the first 3 rounds... Parker tried to catch Whyte cold... a legit 245 pound kiwi heavyweight

Povetkin was going to war when dinosaurs still roamed the earth and is older than Methuselah's grandfather.

Povetkin's age swings it for Whyte imo, but wouldn't be surprised if Povetkin wins.

And that was not a ‘well prepared’ Whyte either, you left out that fact

So does anyone here think that Whyte would definitely beat Hunter then? Because it Povetkin at 40 can take that sort of punishment and handle that sort of youthful energy, I think he could handle a lesser boxer with less speed and head movement.
