Has anyone listened to him lately? Now, Evander was never the best talker, but his speech had deteriorated a lot from boxing. In his latest interviews he sounds so much better. I didn't think it was possible to recover from neurological damage unless it's just speech therapy.
Yes it's quite sad, he has definitely gotten worse , I compare him to Mike Tyson and Foreman and he sounds bad, I met him a few years ago and he wasn't so bad , he has certainly taken too much damage to the brain.
Yeah he sounds like 70 or 80. Or like Kevin hart playing Danny glover in Jumanji 2! Takes forever to get to his point!
That’s a myth. Here’s one study looking at how the brain regenerates brain cells after injury; https://www.neurosurgery.theclinics.com/article/S1042-3680(06)00123-9/abstract There’s evidence the brain can keep regenerating brain cells for up to a year after severe brain injuries such as car accidents. Plus it can rewrite to bypass the damaged areas.
Holy took bombs from many of the best punchers ever. Its a miracle he has only some troubles of expression and not Parkinson or dementia. I will never tire of saying his chin is underrated.
I think that, literally, more people misunderstood what is being said in the OP, than people that got it. Crazy lol.
Those two guys above did not read your content. They just posted and missed on what you said. I agree with you, Holyfield speaks coherently and has never sounded punchy. He sounds largely the same as he did when he was in the 90s and 2000s. He keeps himself fit, still works out, I assume he eats well and probably takes Omega-3 supplements which help with certain of neurology and parts of the brain. Mike Tyson is probably benefitting from smoking all that "medical" cannabis he is smoking while George Foreman has always sounded clear and coherently. Come to think of it, Foreman barely got any damage during his career.
Improved in what way ? Listening to Evander speaking takes a lot of effort and time, I dont see any improvement what so ever .
Judging by most of the responses in this thread I don't think many actually read what you wrote very carefully! Edit: So out of curiosity I just went and checked a bit of his interview on the Tyson podcast last week, and you're absolutely right. He sounds so much better than he has in years (decades?). Much of the pronunciation is still a bit off but he is seeming WAY more fluid. Very interesting. It may just be that he's finally copped onto the right upper.
