Wilder weighed the lightest since his pro debut for the first fight. He was in the gym for months. He was supposed to fight Breazeale. Then Joshua. Then Fury. By the time the fight rolled around he was gaunt. Finkel told the team never let that happen again. Tonight, he is the heaviest he's ever been and looks great. The quick turnaround helped him keep weight on. Imagine Wilder hitting Fury like he did in round 12 but with 19 added pounds behind it. Fury's not going to be upright long enough tomorrow night for the cut to open. Fury should just keep his shirt on during the fight. He won't be in the ring long enough for it to matter. A stationary Fury is Dominic Breazeale. Wilder KO EARLY. Minutes. Not rounds.
Of course he has power but it's not going to be enough tomorrow night. I'm predicting a Calzage Lacy beat down on Wilder.
Hmmm. I'm not sold that Fury can be effective as a mauler. That's a style, not a strategic choice. We have seen it work (Ali fouling in Frazier II) and this looks like an attempt at jab and grab, but remember how shaky Wladimir looked in Peter I? That's what this might be. But swap in Wilder for Peter. On the other hand, I don't want Wilder above 230, either. I thought they would shoot for 225-27, but obviously it's not a big deal in his case. By way of rock paper scissors, it might work out for him.
Nah there will be a million excuses and a rematch. He’ll look a total fraud but doubt he’d retire. He’s got a punchers chance against most. Probably take the rematch and hope he manages to chin him.
Both these guys are juiced up. A already highly trained athlete can't put on 17 lbs of lean muscle like Wilder did in that short time frame. Even with noobie gains, that's a lot of mass. Yes, he's a big tall dude, but again he was already highly conditioned. Fury looks to have added muscle weight too. Could be fat with Fury though. He kept the shirt on. It's an even playing field. They are both on stuff.
273 for Fury, holy hell thats heavy. Not sure what to think of that. Maybe he is going for the KO. obviously Wilder will be too.
Well Fury appears to be intending to turn on its head the old adage of “Box a fighter, and fight a boxer.” Fury has proved the doubters wrong in the past, perhaps he might again, however i believe the toe to toe strategy would be the wrong one, and benefits Wilder. May be Fury feels he has taken Wilders hardest punches and still rose from the canvas and was competitive, so the punch power of Wilder not as much a threat to him as it has been against other Wilder opponents. Fury could have been conning everyone and was wearing a weighted belt or similar beneath his top for the weigh in
OK, here's how I see it: Fury knows his eye won't stand up to too many of Wilders jabs, so he's going for broke. You heard it here, gentlemen: first round KO for somebody. Fury will go for it all out, and either he gets KTFO or Wilder gets KTFO. Hagler-Hearns plus 100 pounds. Write this down.
