Agree. It might work. Fury can inside fight. Its just that i m surprised any trainer like steward would put him in heavy with that game plan being the longer reached much better boxer like fury is. At that level you dont give away advantages like that. Starting to think its been enforced through injury. Cause i m struggling to understand the reasoning behind it. He might win doing just that....its still the far more risky strategy. You knew wilder was coming in heavier....he,ll be slower and tire quicker. Half the job done. As long as fury came in fitter and sharper than last time. Only time wilder got success was when fury tired. To his credit wilder forced the fight to get him tired. But without the layoff...fury would have shut him out. Bring him back sharper and fitter...just slightly less weight than last time...he,d have beat him without too much trouble.
I’m inclined to agree. Could be completely wrong but being that heavy does somewhat confirm the injury rumours. I think of Haye in the bellew fights coming in heavy, it’s not usually a sign of a good camp. Has he been hitting the weights since the Wallin fight? Can’t see that weight gain being muscle from a 7/8 week camp...
Fury is blatantly far, far too heavy. I’m sorry but talk of this being intentional is strikingly reminiscent of the people on here picking Ruiz to beat Joshua in the second fight. ‘He may have played a blinder with the weight. It’s a psychological ploy as he kept his top on. He stopped him last time; with more weight now he’ll definitely stop him.’ Before the camps started any Fury fan being told ‘he’ll come in three pounds lighter than he did for the Seferi fight’ would have bricked it.
inclined to agree. Hope I’m wrong but doesn’t bode well and rarely does a fighter come in so much heavier having had a good camp...if he’s leaner and heavier from a 7 week camp then I want some of what he’s on.
Exactly mate. Look at Ward v big punches like Froch and Kovalev got in the inside, was dirty, controlled fight and negated their best weapons Wilder has put on much more weight mass than Fury. What do you say about his weight gain ?
Fury wearing a top like Ruiz did at the weigh in against AJ... not a great sign. Fury isn't frightened to get his top off when he is completely out of shape so I have no idea he wouldn't last night. My initial thoughts on Fury are.. Fury too heavy to do what most think he'll do... dance around and move My after thoughts are.. maybe this "ankle injury" stuff was real and he couldn't do certain workouts or other stuff for a period of time and he didn't want to crash off the weight late. As for Wilder.. Wilder is a little heavy too, that extra bulk won't help him if this goes late, so maybe we will get a shoot out early, maybe they both don't want to mess around for 12 and are going to go for it. Wilder looked good on it though, solid and I don't think it's in his plan to dance around much, he wants to bang, extra weight behind the right hand early won't hinder him but like I say, will be interesting if this goes late, both are heavier, both might struggle.
If Fury was injured there is no reason he shouldn’t have pulled out. Wilder needs him to secure his status particularly for the AJ fight. I’m more concerned that Fury has lost focus and decided to not bother
There’s a pic of him with his top off on Instagram from 17th January. He still looks flabby and he’s tensing and sucking his gut in. He’s not turned into some beast.
We just don't know with Fury, he is complicated, he is hard to read. I personally don't think he'd turn up without bothering, we also have to take in to consideration he has changed trainer, we don't know what major changes there have been. Also what his new trainer wants in terms of tactics, maybe this "inside 2 rounds" from Fury is legit and they believe they can get Wilder early so they want more weight behind his shots. We will find out in around 20 hours.. it's that close now, I'm getting excited.
Since he’s been world champion Wilder has weighed in at 226, 228 (twice) and 229. So 231 isn’t some radical shift. If anything 212 last time seemed far too light.
Really, Hmmm, so in the grand scheme of things the weight he is at now isn't that dramatic. True, yeah I agree he was too light last time, they must feel that was a mistake.
Huh? Fury doesn’t look fat at all. He said he’s had the most disciplined camp of his career. He could be lying but that’s just not Tyson’s way. An extra stone on a frame like his isn’t going to make any difference. He could come in at 21 stone and still move the same. I don’t think he’s done this through I’ll discipline it’s obviously a tactic.
