I think he has to get up close also. Yes the danger lies in getting close having to get throigh that engagement ranger for wilder who will be waiting for it. However fury used his height, reach gameplan the ladt time and still got caught and at least in the judges eyes had it a draw. If he wants to stop wilder the only way or at least the most obvious way is to get on his chest and tire him before unloading. Bayless could have a massive say in this fight
Not just the risk on the way in though? One clash of heads in close as he's leaning on or working inside and that cut could re-open. I don't think the ref and doctor will be as accomodating as the Wallin fight if it does.
Wallin is a far smarter boxer than wilder imo, he knew how to exploit that cut a lot more than wilder will imo. Eilder is not a dirty fighter in the slightest. Maybe its laxk of boxing iq since he was later to the boxing party in his career. I dont think the cut will have much say in this fight imo
Nobody notice the guns on Fury? He's never had muscle like that in his arms his whole career. He may not win the fight, but I reckon he could win a bench press competition v Wilder. He's clearly been working very hard in the gym one way or another.
Think fury only got caught because he tired....due to the lay off. He,s had more fight camps and more fights since....imo they should have been working towards getting leaner, sharper and fitter and its pretty much job done. Still think fury will be in good shape regardless of weight and could still pull it off...just think its madness to give up the longer reach and being the better boxer especially against a puncher like wilder. Who pretty much relies on being the longer ranged fighter in most of his fights.
He wont giv up the longer reach he will still fight on the outside, imo he will look to get on top of him also to cause damage
This. Fury said he would never fight at 18 and half stone again, and he always said he was coming in at over 19 stone for this fight. Points to a good camp in my view. That's not to stay it's still not an absolute pickem.
I don't think he needs to exploit the cut, just re-open it. It's right above the eye. Fury was fighting blind in that previous fight. If Fury can't see that shot coming he's in big trouble. If that happens against Wilder the fight will get stopped, either by the ref or Sugar Hill. He's much better than Wilder inside. I'm just not sure that's a viable strategy given the cut.
It's not interesting it's bull****. Of the cut opened up it would be clearly visible. What is clear is that Fury IS marked up underneath his eyes.
I’m away for a mates birthday, likely going to have to stay up to watch it in a bar. Going to be so pissed off if it’s a crap fight and Fury gets brutalised...
You might be right, time will tell. Id be a lot more worried if i were fury if that cut was on the otherside as it would blind him more from seeing the right hand
I'm worried that the cut will give them a chance for a controversial win and we'll see the whole thing repeated in 9 months. As far as I'm concerned Fury's won this contest once and been robbed. If Wilder wins on a re-opened cut then there will be no resolution and we'll not be any closer to answering the questions in this division.
