What I noticed last night is a transformation in the division.

In the 80's there were dozens of guys like Wilder, but then came Mike Tyson who bulldozed everyone.

In response, a heavyweight division consisting of huge tubs of lard were manufactured to deal with a guy like Tyson, due to their ability to absorb punishment.

Then came Wlad, who could easily beat these huge tubs of lard because of his size, reach, and power.

    Now Wilder has arrived.

He has the defense, and athleticism to deal with these slugger types, but he also has the reach and athleticism to knock guys like Wlad out.

This is a new generation of heavyweights.

People tend to diminish Stiverne's performance, but what they don't realize is that Stiverne did everything he could to win.

Stiverne is actually one of the most skilled heavyweights in boxing.

He has great punching technique, attacks the body, has exceptional defense, and good power and accuracy.

However, he lacked the stamina and the explosiveness to go forward ala Mike Tyson and knock Wilder's head off.

Granted, Mike Tyson was a freak of nature, but that's what it will take to beat Wilder.

People mention Povetkin as being better than Stiverne, but I disagree.

Povetkin is not as skilled as Stiverne in my opinion, despite being a gold medalist. Stiverne has come a long way and has really great punching technique and understands angles.

Povetkin would probably get knocked out by Wilder. Wilder is just too much of a force, has great stamina and proved and will continue to prove to have exceptional technique.

I mean, let's put this into perspective, this is the first fight Wilder has been in in 32 fights!!!

And he was composed and defensively aware.

The guy CAN box, and this will only give him tremendous confidence.

This guy is only going to get better, so get used to him.

TYSON FURY is not a good matchup for Wilder. As a matter of fact, as long as Wilder is around guys like Tyson Fury won't be. If you don't have TREMENDOUS defense and the ability to close distance rapidly, you will likely not have a chance.

Tall guys with defensive liabilities like Fury might as well DUCK Wilder because if Fury fights Wilder, he is going to get HURT.

Wlad still has a chance, but ultimately he won't have the style to beat Wilder. It's just the changing of the guard. It happens in boxing.

Wlad showed defensive vulnerability in his last fight, and as Wilder gains more confidence, Wlad's chances will continue to diminish until Wilder will beat him.

Wilder is the NEXT GREATEST THING. GET USED TO IT.

STOP HATING. Appreciate what we have.

    THE DUDE IS A KILLER.

    What's not to like????

*Mayweather is duckin Pacquaio AGAIN like a BlTCH!!!! He's bout to PAY COTTO THAT MONEY!!!! LIKE A BlTCH!!!!!

Decent post although I agree with you on Fury losing to Wilder, Wlad will have no problems at all with him, and KO him in 8.

wilder is the next big thing....not only because he's the best heavyweight around right now, but also because he's got the personality and the charisma to really bring a lotta fans back to the sport of boxing. these are the fans that left boxing during the awful kltichko era.

wilder's back story is great as well...he's a great dad. a great role model for men everywhere. his daughter seems to be doing well... very happy and well-loved. i hope she continues to improve, but she's almost like a regular kid right now.

Stiverne is still in the hospital with severe dehydration. Makes you wonder why that is, and if that had an affect on his lackluster performance last night.
