Paycheck fighters like Wilder who took up the sport because they didn't know what else to do, will sometimes have less respect for how sacred the sport is to a lot of us. Saying you want a body on your record is about the most ignorant thing you could say as a boxer. It's offensive on that account alone.

    It's certainly not "classy".

I agree that it was a profoundly stupid thing to say.

    And it was offensive.

However, that doesn't make him a twat in my book. I look at the overall package.

    I've just rewatched the fight.

Wilder was finished in the fifth.

He posed no serious danger from there on. He was too knackered to land anything significant.

And it turns out there was no bust ear drum.

Fury just broke him down by executing the gameplay he predicted he would use.

He was methodically broken down and stopped.

Even without the whit towel, his minutes in the vertical position were numbered.

In my opinion I think the fight was stopped premature. Sure wilder equliberiam was off, but he still had a few rounds to change the tide, and in the sequence he was stopped he was hit with one shot and the ref called it. The corner made a bad call by waiving the towel even though the 10 time defending champ was still hanging in there. I really don't know what to think about this one

I just saw the fight on youtube (bad quality, but still), and there was very little chance of Wilder coming back from that. It was sloppy but onesided and he looked pretty bad in there.
Stoppage looked British if there hadn't been a towel, but he seemed to be done.

Great job from the Gypsy King, implemented the game plan and took advantage of the injury to Wilder.

Great fight and performance by Fury! He pelted Wilder from pillar to post with stiff jabs , right and and body shots. Never seen his jab so stiff and straight before. Wilder was completely out of his depth from the opening round. A total domination that nobody saw coming. :confundio1:

Hats off to Fury. You need a lot of ballz and self-belief to take the fight to a knockout artist like he did and he did it with style and finesse.

Kinda feel bad for Wilder but a lot was on the line for both men and one 0 had to go. :icon_tfno:

    I got it wrong

Tyson gambled on the extra weight and went for the knockout and it worked, mauled wilder to misery.

Still feel something felt off about Wilder he was pawing at the jab early on.
