It’s hilarious. As far-reaching excuses go, I believe it to be up there with the best.

Quite telling that Wilder's team don’t appear to be mentioning a ruptured eardrum, instead saying that he suffered a “small cut” just inside the ear. I have a feeling they’ll 'upgrade' that injury after they see how it’s being weaponised online to excuse his performance and diminish Fury's victory.

His foam and rhinestone cosplay was too heavy, yet they were prepared to go in there and fight a 273lb man. That seems legit.

No, it was steel armour , weighed over 300 pounds. The Mask alone weighed 50 pounds. Facts.

This is why excuses should not be tolerated. Ridiculous.

Why did he wear it then? These excuses lately have taken us back to the days of Roberto Duran.

I think Wilder’s ring entrance song shattered his ears

What a pathetic attempt an an excuse.

Why couldn't he just be honest and acknowledge that Fury was the better fighter?

That can happen when you've skipped leg day for the past 15 years.

Seriously though, his lack of leg strength will have been a factor with Fury dumping 270lbs on him at every opportunity. It also made it hard for Wilder to push him back to create the necessary space to get off his right hand. A rifle is no good in a phone booth.

I’m not a doctor (just a few credits short) but I believe the heavy outfit may have punctured Wilder’s eardrums. There was clearly something wrong because he looked a bit off, right after he was punched in the face. Also, he looked “tired” according to the announcers after getting hit to the body. If he wasn’t fighting “tired” with broken eardrums, which, thankfully, did not require medical assistance, he would have easily won the fight. It’s hard to fight when you are tired. By the time they stopped the fight, he looked like he was ready to go to sleep. I can’t imagine how tired he must have been. Next fight, he’s going to wear a much lighter outfit.

Right?? 90lb girls wear stuff every bit as unwieldy and burdensome to anime conventions all the damn time, but fragile little Deontay got done in by his wardrobe?
