Exactly this. After the knockdown in the third he looked more and more desperate.

The fight was lost after fury hit him at 1:34 in the first round.

Yep but Wilder did show Fear and bravery all in the same night. He knew he was in big trouble but refused to quit. Imagine how terrifying it would be to have just had you're equilibrium scrambled by a huge right hand that dropped you and then have a 6/9 270 pound beast trying to take you out.

You could see his facial expression and look in his eyes from the start he looked confused, then as it went on he looked a bit dazed then from about round 3/4 it was pure fear

People simply delusionally seeing what they want to see.

Wilder was focused and had his eyes fixed and focused on trying to time fury up and into the very last round.

There was definitely a moment in the fight where he was really wide eyed and looked utterly shocked to his core at what was unfolding. It didn't last long as Fury was on him again and he went back to fighting. But for the brief moment when he had time to think and not just react, it seemed to dawn on him this wasn't going to be his night.

I give Wilder his dues, despite realising he was about to get his ass kicked, he really never did show any signs of quitting or wanting to quit. There's no questioning his heart.

There was a moment when he took a really hard jab in the face. At that moment he realized his belief that Fury can't hurt him was shattered.

Now that you mention it, I did. He looked pretty fearful. Fury looks quite insane when he fights. His concentration is like a serial killer going through some sort of dysphoric mania episode - I was scared.

You’re only given a chance to be brave when you’re afraid.

Wilder never showed any signs of quit.

literally the second round I thought it was a mismatch, wilder had no business in there, he was way out of his depth, and he knew it.

I'm a roadman and I was a feared street fighter during my younger years. I've also spent almost half my life banged up at Her Majesty's pleasure in various prisons and young offenders institutions so I think I know a little bit about fear detection and it was clear to me that Bootleg D lost his bottle as soon as Fury put it on him and it dawned on him that the real Gypsy King had turned up this time.

when he removed his 900lb costume that nearly had him break through the ring and fall to the center of the earth.
