I don’t see how anyone can argue Fury isn’t the number 1 heavyweight in the world and I like to think I’m objective. That’s based both on resume and h2h.

Could AJ beat Wilder? Yes. Would I be surprised if he got knocked out. No.

Whyte has done really well and I’m a fan but he isn’t much better than Chisora in reality and that’s a shopworn Chisora. AJ beat a green version.

    Povetkin is old and shopworn.

Klitschko was a decent win but he was semi retired, there’s no doubt fury’s was a better win.

Parker was a good win but he’s gone on to lose to Whyte since and struggled with Hughie Fury.

When is Fury going to get the credit he deserves? Clearly has the two best wins, undefeated and has some solid wins to back those up. I rate Joshua and have been a fan, he has some good depth to his resume but none of those wins are really stand out.

Fair point, I just look at the last 4 names on his record and think that none of them are exciting enough to make you a top 10 fighter.
Rydell Booker, Bogdan Dinu, Hughie Fury & Kevin Johnson

That's it in a nutshell bud. A well balanced post.

I respect AJ but the only champions he beat were Charles Martin and Parker. Martin is awful and Parkers only solid win is Ruiz Jr in a contentious decision. He has since lost to Whyte as you say. Parker lost to Hughie Fury IMO. I don't understand why he's rated highly.

Fury schooled Wlad when he was the most dominant champion since Lennox Lewis and annihilated Wilder when he was the most feared puncher in decades. Not only are Fury's best wins better, the ease he beat both champions is remarkable and any hint of luck has been extinguished forever. The man is the real deal, an all time great. End of story.

It's not Joshua's fault Fury was more interested in taking drugs, getting pissed and eating himself stupid than defending his belts.

    Yeah exactly!!!!!!!!

Lets not feel sorry for Whyte in not getting a title shot... but PLEASE FEEL SORRY for Fury who walked away from the sport, gave up his belts, ballooned to 400 pounds... tried to commit suicide...

    Mhmmmm SURE BUDDY!!

What's your reasoning for putting Wilder so far down out of interest?

Who said it was Joshua's fault? Who said feel sorry for Fury? Two silly statements.

However, now that the champion is back who never lost those belts in the ring and now holds the wbc + ring magazine belts, it dilutes his status as wba, wbo and ibf champion. Realistically, he needs to beat Fury to legitimise himself as the rightful owner of said belts.

How can you say you respect AJ when you just called his titles void?

Because he has a solid resume and fought the best available outside of Wilder and Fury. However, I believe he needs to beat Fury to legitimise his belts. It's a fair statement and reminiscent of Ali/Frazier 1.

It’s completely unfair to say the belts aren’t legitimate when the previous holder got popped for PEDs and retired for 2 years. Fury lost his belts fair and square and Joshua won them fair and square.

He got exposed for what he really is, and he lost his WBC belt... so what are you left with? A one dimensional, excuse making...talentless one trick pony for a boxer who avoided the top contenders till he met a match fit fury.

Those i list above him would do the same job Fury did

Thats just the silliest logic ever... the whole lineal thing is BS

    Pathetic.

AJ earned his belts, Fury forfeited his when he walked away from the sport... like when you give up a baby and abandon it.

But AJ came and looked after the baby, and stuck around.

Nothing about AJ's achievements is diluted... if Fury wants to be number 1 he needs to beat AJ. Until then he is number 2.

Personally I still think he'd beat Parker and Ruiz. I think AJ would beat Wilder now and I think Wilder vs Whyte is a toss up. Wilder always has a punchers chance though. Think him vs AJ in particular would be a fantastic spectacle.

It depends what is left of Wilder, he looked broken to me.. but he still has that equaliser. That's the only reason I'd give him a shot against the others, his technique is worse than all of your top 5.
