God some people talk some nonsense on this forum. Wilder's worse performance?! Why? because Wilder lost the fight? Or because he lost 9 rounds? Fury's best performance? Why? Because he got the honour to fight your hero? Or because he didn't win all 12 rounds to avoid a draw? To compare Fury's fight with Wilder after a 3 year lay off with the Klitschko fight is delusional. I can't wait for casuals like you to jump ship to someone like Davis once Wilder loses his title.
Really well said, and you echo almost all my thoughts about him. It's got to the point where he's been fighting poor opposition for so long that he's got a label that's really hard to unstick, which is mostly his and his team's fault, but shouldn't tar him for the rest of his career, especially when he's now making up for lost ground.
This is a great post. It's entirely fair to criticize his lack of skills while also acknowledging that he's exciting and has improved, and his resume is improving as well. I'm a Wilder fan who thinks he lost the first Fury fight and will lose the second one, too, but I can't wait to watch.
I disagree he's actually regressed IMO. He used to use his jab more circle and try to box and actually look to win rounds now he's 100% fallen in love with his power and really doesn't even try to box or win rounds he waits for his opponent to tire he uses his jab simply to measure distance loading up looking for the onehittaquitta. He doesn't care about wining rounds he only looks for big shots to KO his opponent. I have never seen any fighter try this and is as confident in their power as Wilder is now. It's very interesting to watch and also very weird as well.
Isn’t stepping back foot first before stepping front foot when moving backwards boxing 101? Why can’t Wilder do this and he keeps moving front foot first and crossing legs when moving backward from pressure? Is he too old now to learn basic boxing foot work? Don’t even amateur coaches teach this when you take any boxing class? Why wouldn't Deas or Breland or any of his coaches at this level of boxing tell him this like 10 years ago? Look at the second knockdown how Wilder stumbles backwards and get knocked down by a body shot. Wtf kinda stance is that?
You have no idea how much I wanted to come in and gloat to Dubblechin & IsaL about how wrong they were. Meanwhile, the guy they tried to claim DKSAB put money on Fury between 7-12 at $8.00. I'm up over $1400 and they are down a full nights sleep
I was surprised myself: Did Deontay land a single punch vs. Fury? There were 2-3 hands in the first round, but they looked like glacing blows or were blocked. Other than that I don't think he landed anything at all. Literally nothing. Deontay has absolutely zero boxing skill once things don't go as planned.
