Even if he doesn't have the basic fundamental skills, we know that AJ is vulnerable to explosiveness, has a weak chin, and would fight at Wilder's preferred range, where as Fury was unpredictable, smothered Wilder, fought in close range, and was slick enough to avoid Wilder's bombs.
Joshua has a punchers chance at beating Wilder, and Wilder has a punchers chance at beating Joshua. I don't see AJ committing to his punches against Wilder. Not after what happened against Ruiz, and not after how he fought Ruiz in the rematch. I see AJ "trying" to play it safe by staying far from Wilder and attempting to use his superior skill to pot shot. AJ's problem is that Wilder only fights one way, and unless AJ is going to get on the inside or jab and clinch, he will get clipped and it will hurt him, and we will see AJ panic all over again. I can't see AJ avoiding the right hand for 12 rounds. And I can't see AJ fully committed to hurting Wilder knowing Wilder is the hardest puncher in boxing and knowing that one punch will give him Ruiz flashbacks.
I'd strongly favour Fury over Joshua, been feeling that way since AJ/Takam. But Wilder is a different story. Joshua was always the more complete fighter, and now the blueprint to beat Wilder is out there. Until I see Wilder make a comeback and and get better with his backfoot game, I'd have to go with AJ.
Before the fight I said that if Fury were to win he would get close to Wilder and avoid Wilder's long right hand. Despite AJ being more technically skilled than Wilder I don't see him replicating Fury's blue print with much success. He's not as slick or athletic as Fury. Fury can move, it's always been one of his greatest assets. He flawlessly beat Wlad where AJ was almost KO by an even older Wlad. Then AJ was KO by Ruiz. Unless he can stay away from Wilder's right for 12 rounds, and by staying away I mean stay in close quarters to prevent Wilder from getting that much needed leverage I don't see how he makes it unscathed. AJ surely knows his chin is suspect and will try to stay away, but Wilder has that long deceiving range. It's like a pickem fight but I give Wilder the clear edge based on "styles", and we all know styles make fights.
Rocket Scientist - "Hmmm, this interesting... the self-proclaimed god's gift to boxing has just beaten a man with the worst technical boxing ability for any champ in history.... I wonder what this means? My intelligence is saying .... it means nothing.... let me confirm with a smarter rocket scientist" A smarter Rocket Scientist "Well it means that one of them was definitely the lesser skilled, but we'll have to see the winner face a more skilled opponent to reach a better understanding of who is the most skilled in the division.... by the way ask that homeless man @IsaL to leave the building"
Many people here aren't smart enough to deduce that Fury hand picked Fury because he thought he was the easiest guy between AJ and Whyte to take on as an opponent to fluff up his empty resume, he nearly did it... but he was biting more then he could chew in the rematch.... and now he is finished at the top.
how many threads about the same thing. its all hypothetical bull. when fury and wilder both sign to fight Joshua we will know who beats who. until then they can keep losing theirs pens like they have for the last 18 months. its heavyweights. joshua could connect with a big right hand on either chin and it could be game over. same for fury same for wilder. accept it and move on
Educate yourself, stop being an enemy of the truth, the facts, the reality. Make them your allies. Visit the youtube video link and see the love, respect, support showered upon the man you so vehemently hate. The man who commands more popularity than your master Wilder. Whyte is loved... I am sorry you were not loved as a child. But I understand why.
Fury had a jab, Joshua has a jab. Go rewatch the fight if you can bare it and realise anyone with a good jab and decent reach will best Wilder. Fury did it Joshua would do it faster and far more brutally!!
