Champions been making excuses for losing title before eg Foreman claiming had been drugged, Tyson and co claiming long count , something Tyson continued to claim even in retirement, This content is protected . Excuses excuses, fact is the above is summed up in Dempseys quoted comment that he made to his wife after Tunney beat him, "Honey i forgot to duck". If Wilder intends to activate his right to rematch, then ok he has to accept, learn and improve with no excuses to himself for his performance. But to the public etc who will fund the fight purse, he is not going to be saying he was in tip top condition physically, mentally etc yet was outclassed, out fought and annihilated, no he is giving reasons (excuses) so punters will pay to see fight number 3, lot on this forum have insight into likely outcome of fight 3, but most of folk who buy PPV etc only know what the media report, and they choose to believe it. Title fights are all about the $$££, it is a money business first and foremost, so excuses for bad performance are the best damage limitation.
Deontay would get a rude awakening in conversation with soldiers and the weight they carry. The guy is a joke
Problem being the growing perception that the excuse is pathetic, converted into memes and accompanied by footage of Wilder being completely destroyed. So, it could backfire, but I agree with what you wrote.
It is possible indeed, but i guess he gotta try it, his reputation re the loss and effect it could have on future money making fights, not likely be any worse than if he had manned up and said he had no excuses. If Fury/Wilder3 does happen i am sure the PR machinery will be rolled out by the promoters.
True, but the excuse has to have some tenuous connection to the world of reality that most of us inhabit, otherwise it doesn't really help. Example, we all saw Wilder schooled in the first fight with Fury before being saved by those convenient PBC approved cards, but by talking about the 'long count' the excuse was sufficient to persuade many feeble minded people to disregard the evidence of their own eyes. They were so desperate in the second fight however that the best they could come up with was the heavy costume and throwing the best man he had in the corner under the bus. That's so pathetic that not only will it not help, it will actively harm Wilder's cause. Not least because the cretins who buy it and try to persuade others are going to sound a whole lot of crazy, to everyone else. I could've come up with better excuses in 30 seconds after that fight ended. Whoever is in charge of team Wilder is as thick as they come.
Not disputing what you say, however it was clear to anyone with a braincell that anything stated by DW or his team to explain the loss is just a blatant excuse. Lets be honest, many folk buy the PPV with zilch knowledge of the sport, just see the numbers who paid good folding money for Mayweather vs McGregor PPV, ok if they were merely looking for comedy but sure as hell not a sporting contest, non title amateur boxer vs one of the best pro champs. Those that know anything about boxing make their viewing choices on basis of what they see, excuses (reasons) expressed by losing team don't cloud our choice, however i regret to say a very large percentage of folk are not like that, and will buy into any old untruth told to them. We live in a world with very tenuous links to reality, social media etc is evidence of that. We have sportstars being paid mega money to advertise and endorse a plethora of products which they very likely do not actually use, why, because people buy these items on the back of these stars endorsing them, people will believe what people want to believe, reality sure does not enter into these advert. I guess the proof of whether the excuse that DW and co gave for loss, will impact negatively financially on DW vs TF 3 will be answered in time. I think DW saying he wanted/wants to go out on his shield will negate any negative re the heavy outfit excuse, in that those buying the PPV for fight 3 will if DW loses within the 12 rounds, expect to see him KO'd not TKO'd, a good old heavy KO or bloodbath draws the viewers.
WBC HAVE A NEW BELT THE WBC ONYX EXCUSE CHAMPION Champion: DEONTAY WILDER SILVER CHAMPION: 1. ADRIEN BRONER INTERIM CHAMPION: 2. ??? 3. ??? 4. ??? 5. ??? HALL OF FAME: DAVID HAYE
hey man are we really surprised at this? I mean they used to let Wilder ramble on behind a mike until they realised what Gumpff he spat out so is this a surprise ...
100kg for 20 reps on a squat is a warm-up to any decently strong guy. I doubt Deontay Wilder can even do that.
Wilder deserves to be ravished nonstop for this idiotic excuse. Pretty much the same ravishing Haye received for his "toe" excuse.
