What worked against Wilder, won't work against Joshua, 2 different fighters with very different styles. Wilder is useless in close, while Joshua is adept and dangerous in close. Only fighter who's bettered Joshua up close is Ruiz Jr, who basically beat Joshua at his own catch and counter game. Wilder's footwork is atrocious and so he can't fight going backwards as he can't organise his feet to set to punch with any real power unless they are set. Joshua in contrast can box off the back foot pretty well. We all know they sparred and that sparring will set the shape of the fight. Back then Joshua surprised Fury in the first round and rattled him with an uppercut, Fury then out boxed him for the remaining 2 rounds on the outside. Fury isn't going to be pushing Joshua back like Wilder, he'll be the one backing up and looking to use movement and angles to out box Joshua.
No, he would eat hooks and uppercuts that way as Joshua is quite powerful at close range. Fury is no Ruiz who has ridiculous handspeed and combinations and was punching up. I do think Fury showed the blueprint on how to take Wilder out though. Expect more opponents going after him now if they get in the ring with him.
Fair enough, but my point is that Fury would not be dumb enough to try and go toe to toe with Joshua. When they sparred one upper cut from Joshua was enough to put him on the ropes and Joshua was a lot lighter back then.
Usyk at cruiserweight has my full respect The fashion in which Fury dominated Wilder has my full respect I apologise if my objective outlook on boxing has overwhelmed your circuitry
It’s because you seem desperate for both to lose for some reason. Nothing to do with rating them, you seem to really want both to lose. It’s noticeable.
Well first of all im not Desperate for anything... and secondly I reslly havent stated I wanted them to lose anywhere.. if you quite where I have implied that then we can take this conversation further as we analyse my hate speech
Ok now we can agree. That would be a bad strategy. I think Fury's final form will be reached in the AJ fight. He will move like he did for Wlad, but mix in the heavy jab and Kronk right hand bomb. Somewhat of a meld between his 2 most effective styles.
I think you are right there,Tyson is a smart fighter who can work out how to win off the cuff...He doesnt need a gameplan he needs a couple of rounds to weigh everything up.Joshua is very slow and robotic and doesnt have the skills to get close to Fury to trouble him...Tyson can toy with Joshua and humiliate him for 12 rounds and win a UD or he can fight aggressive and give Joshua real beating.
Tyson would fight Joshua on the back foot. Similar to how he fought Wlad. That alone would take Joshua's best weapon away from him bu negating the uppercut.
Joshua has a very good hook and uppercut, and can string compact punches together well, so it wouldn't be a wise tactic for the somewhat sloppy Fury to engage in. Fury's best tactic against Joshua would be to keep things at range and outbox him, which an old Wlad was able to do for stretches. If he does that he can win a decision. The more I think about it the more I think this would actually be quite a boring tactical fight from both men.
He wasn't afraid to engage with Wlad or Whyte though, was he? Second fight with Ruiz was very much a win at all costs type of affair in order to get him back in the driving seat, and probably shouldn't be taken for anything more than that.
