Willpower, drive, rage, passion, corazón and balls. A sledgehammer wouldn't have stopped Fury that night. This content is protected
He used a stiff jab. Moved forward to press the action, threw hard right hands. The first fight he was more focused on defense and slipping.
He fought to get the knock out. Through a stiff jab and through sitting down on his punches to get the maximum power. He managed to push Wilder back and completely negate his right hand. In the first fight Fury was 95% focused on defence and getting through the rounds to win a decision. That proved to be the wrong tactics because he was dropped twice and stiffed on the cards.
He got off first and then took advantage of Wilders bad positioning to follow up with more punches instead of potshoting and hiding like he did in the first fight. He obviously worked on that overhand right cause he was throwing it with authority and easily getting past wilders weak defense. In actuality, he threw all his punches with more authority, he was punching with more leverage, from a sturdier base. He wasn’t punching with one foot heading towards the exit already.
Yes Wilder caught him with a right hand in the first round. It didn’t do anything to Fury who shrugged it off and then pressed forward again. It did leave some scratch marks on the left side of his face which are visible in the post fight interview. He landed something in the 2nd too and still looked a threat. From the 3rd onwards it was a serious beating. Completely one way traffic.
