Here are the similarities between the two men: - both got knocked down multiple times - both looked to be concussed and/or seriously hurt early in the fight - both were dog tired - both fought on until the seventh round and were waved off on their feet Here are the differences: - Joshua got a KD on Ruiz and won a small portion of the rounds, Wilder lost every round - Joshua spat his mouthpiece out, which he also did vs Wlad where he went on to win by TKO - Wilder displayed extremely negative body language, constantly backpeddling while Joshua attempted to fight on - Wilder's corner threw in the towel, the very definition of saying you don't want any more, the ref waved Joshua off on his own judgement - Wilder made constant excuses for both his losses while Joshua made none and went on to win the rematch So essentially we have very similar circumstances with a couple of telling differences, and none of them flattering to Wilder. Full credit to both men for having the guts to last until the seventh, zero credit to Wilder for his constant excuse making and inability to credit the rightful winner.
Wilder shouldn’t even be top 4 heavyweight he got beaten twice by fury in reality, at least Ruiz clearly beat aj once. from a financial and legacy point of view fury would be better off fighting aj or Whyte rather than wilder 3 which seems likes a cherry pick now
Wilder looked lost and confused and on the verge of quitting from the second round ffs. He didn't need to out and out quit because 1) His corner quit for him and 2) the bent ref gave him countless times to recover and stopped fury from finishing him off. Do you want some more salt with your zero american heavyweight titles?
Wilder probably didn't have the energy to spit out the mouth piece after he had to walk to the ring in that heavy ass costume, lol.
AJ gave up, knew he'd lost on the night and live to fight another day, but he never outright quit, had the ref not stopped it and got his mouth piece, Joshua would have continued to fight and his team would have let him. They'd seen him in trouble before v Wlad. And that he recovered and won in similar circumstances!! On the other hand, Wilders team gave up on him. Throwing in the white towel, whilst he was stillon his feet.. this is the definition of quitting in the sport! Ironically on a night where Wilder came in to the ring spouting black this, black that, black everything, it was a white Towel that saved him from being brutally knocked out! Not sure I get all this giving Wilder credit for continuing to take the beating either...before the fight Fury had pillow fists and now the same people who said that are saying Wilder is some out of this world type warrior for taking so many pillow fist shots and having no answer to said pillows!! When you add in the fact Joshua handled his defeat with far more dignity than Wilder has and also factor in that he has since avenged his defeat I know who looks better ATM. AJ took his rematch and win let's see if Wilder can do the same or if he totally quits and doesn't even take a rematch.
I’d want to buy time to if I was potentially concussed and being smashed across the ring. The fact is, he stated he wanted to continue regardless of body language and stalling tactics. Regardless of however you want to interpret either loss from Wilder or Joshua, its ridiculous on the count of both sides who keep trying to somehow point score. If you are so salty for either guy that that’s how it helps you get over a loss, then cool, the fact is both guys were beaten once, Joshua avenged his in what’s detractors would say was a bore fest of running, because that’s what helps them, Wilder will have the opportunity to avenge his sole loss as well. Threads like this are basically baiting.
AJ didn't quit. He had ample opportunity to not get up from his stall but kept going. Spitting out a gumshield is a tactic many fighters have used.
He lost his mouth piece while gasping for air during the ring walk. That costume was heavy, I’m telling ya.
I really dont see the point in trying to run someone else down to big yourself up. Reeks of bitterness.
Must be some terrific Fighters on this site Kirk. Brave as lions. Everyone last one of them a Champion who, when his time came, was knocked spark out rather than " Quit ". Either that or they never laced on a glove in their life. I know straight away who the Boxers and ex Boxers are on here. It's got a lot to do with respect. Apologies to any no guts no glory all time hero on here I may have misjudged or disrespected.
not a fan of wilder I always said he can’t box and his power is overrated , but now this clumsy fat oaf Fury is getting overrated to the extreme heights by same people that call wilder a can crusher.
The inactive drug-ravaged muscle atrophied bipolar shadow of the shell of Tyson ''The Gypsy King'' Fury's bloated shot corpse not only literally rose from the dead like Lazarus after eating the most devastating atomic bomb of a right hand that Bootleg D has ever or ever will throw, and let's be real here that right hand would've put an African elephant to sleep for a fortnight and even one that was known for its punch resistance, but when he arose he then proceeded to do a cheeky little gypsy jig when Jack Reiss asked him to walk to his left and right, put his hands behind his back and taunt Bootleg D shortly afterwards, and then he actually took the fight to him and won the remainder of the round including even hurting him a bit. Zero quit in a gypsy man.
