It was a great fight but the heavyweights today hit a lot harder, you won't see slug fests like that anymore.

Bowe landed so many flush shots on 205lb Holyfield and still couldn't finish him off. Even the commentator mentions his surprise at Bowe's lack of power. Can you imagine what would happen if Wilder or Joshua landed those big right hands?

Exciting fight but it's kind of crazy watching two big men willingly eat so many hard punches. Fights like that take things from you that you never get back.

Remember how when Wlad and Vitali were coming up the guys vying for HW titles were Haseem Rahman, Chris Byrd, James Toney, and John Ruiz

    We are blessed right now.

At the end of 2005, the champions were as follows:

    IBF - Chris Byrd
WBA - Nicolay Valuev (who had just defeated John Ruiz)
    WBO - Lamon Brewster
    WBC - Haseem Rahman

    ouch.

Sanders, Brewster, Peter... I'd like to see how Bowe coped with prime versions of these.

Watched this fight recently after not seeing it a good few years. I always thought Holyfield owned the first half if the fight then Bowe took over, was struck by how effective Bowe was early as well, was more one sided than I remembered. Such a shame Bowe didn’t really reach his potential longer term. I’m in the camp that believes today’s heavyweights wouldn’t have lived with that work rate and skill level. Different class, Bowe would have Damn near killed Wilder. Holyfield would taken these guys souls.

Stop watching boxing than... I mean, WTF do you want fans to do? ONLY talk about fights from 20 years ago?
