Wilder has lost twice. He's been outboxed but got a gift on the cards.
He has then been out fought, out punched, outskilled everything in a one sided beat down.

Its really Fury 2 Wilder 0 - he could win with his power there is a chance but no one is interested in seeing it the 2nd fight was as conclusive as it gets.

I know this is in reference to the Fury and Wilder fight. Sure there have been guys that were obliterated in a fight to come back and win the rematch. But that is rarely the case. The ones that do are ones with great boxing skills like Lennox Lewis with Rachman.

Wilder is no great boxer. He is an athletic power puncher with fundamental skills. In two fights with Fury you can argue he won 2 rnds. The first fight Wilder was out boxed. His saving grace was the two punch that sent Fury down. The 2nd fight Fury took away his only weapon. He didn't give Wilder the room to throw. Fury smothered him from the get go, if he doesn't give Wilder room to throw he wins. Result was 6 rnds of ass whooping.

In a 3rd fight Fury will win again. There is nothing Wilder has shown that he won't get outboxed or be able to handle the smother Fury puts on him. Fury will not stand at a distance and let Wilder sneak in a punch. he will make this a phone booth fight again cause Wilder has no inside game.

I don't think its impossible just very unlikely. Even more unlikely is getting your ass kicked twice and winning the third match, especially if they have absolutely no boxing skills whatsoever.

This. I can’t think of any fighter in history who has come back from a beating like that and won the rematch

Just too much to learn, not enough time. His team and handlers know it.

We see it on this forum all the time. Fighters tend to get overrated when they win and underrated when they lose.

We are in a era where fighters with one loss are called bums and advised to retire.

Because great fighters have the ability to look within themselves, accept their flaws, work on their weaknesses and come back stronger. Hey, not an AJ fan boi but he refused to blame and leave McCracken for Ruiz when he was under intense pressure to do so. He knew it was down to him. So they got the formula right an outclassed Ruiz easy. No excuses. That’s a real champ.

wilder is 34 coming on 35, thinks he would beat prime Tyson and fires the one person who cares about him. Game over.

    Wilder fan logic :
    1. Wilder always has a chance to land a punch and score a KO.
    2. The longer the time he's in the ring with someone the more chance he'll have to land the KO punch.
    So ....
    3. Let's give him as many rematches as he needs to get it done.

And lets be real he may talk that he wasn`t hurt, but he was beaten very badly. He will need to rest at least few months, so as far as i understandh if he is to activate the rematch clause, the fights need to be done till the summer.
So the right thread should be will Wilder even be able to recover till the so call rematch in the summer ???

And if the fight happen, he have the excuse ready for him. He will said that his legs was not recovered from that 40 pound costume, and that Fury did not gave him enough time to recover his chicken legs and this is the reason he lost, and that Fury didn`t hurt him in the any of 3 matches and he will win the 48233476232323566 rematch.

Styles make fights. The big issue with Wilder is what else does he have in his locker to win a rematch.

This has been the case even 10+ years ago, and surely you noticed that back then too. Nothing changed. People tend to overreact when a fighter loses, especially if by KO. The only difference nowadays is that comebacks are faster/easier to hype thanks to social media.

It happens... but I think this is about Wilder. Wilder can't beat Fury. Next topic.

Seriously though, whoever thinks that knows not what they speak of. Let's take a look though... goes who took a bad beating and won a rematch.

Terry Norris was knocked out with a jab by Simon Brown KO4, he won a decision in the rematch. Ernie Terrell was stopped by Cleveland Williams in their first fight but Terrell won a decision in the rematch.

While there are indeed numerous examples of fighters that lost doing better in the rematch, if we're honest Wilder lost the first fight against a sub par Fury and then totally got his ass kicked in the 2nd fight, it wasn't a close fight it was a serious beat down for the majority of the fight.

Wilder maybe won 5 rounds out of 19 at best maybe 3 at worst. How many fighters lose the first 2 fights and then turn it around in the 3rd?

Plus Wilder isn't a cerebral fighter, he had no real game plan in the rematch other than to come in heavier so when he landed this time he'd keep Fury down. Other than that he made no adjustments or at least he made none that worked from what could be seen.

Asking Wilder to somehow to better in the third fight would be like expecting Mario Viet to beat Calzaghe after the first 2 losses, or Robert Allen to beat Hopkins in their third fight, or Marco Antonio Barerra to beat Junior Jones after losing to him twice. Honestly if Fury had gotten the right decision in the first fight we wouldn't even be talking about a 3rd.

It's usually a situation where a better fighter gets caught in the first fight, maybe his chin lets him down. The rematch is usually a good look at the way things were supposed to go the first time. Lewis vs. McCall and Rahman. Anthony Joshua vs. Ruiz.
