Tbh after the other night, I'd favor Williams. Wilder extremely onedimensional and lacks fundamentals.

I think Wilder can win this. I would like to say Wilder fought at a better level, but I am not sure if we include actual wins. at least Williams got a draw with Eddie Machen and took Ernie Terrell to a split decision in a much better decade of boxing. Wilder drew with Fury...and that’s about it.

Two punchers here. Both very brave. Anything can happen.

Too difficult for me to call at this time.

Peep this- Fury's 28th fight was a draw.
Williams 28th fight was a loss.

Which is worse to draw against a champ with sub-par skills but a bomb in his hand? or to lose like Williams did to a guy named Sylvester Jones who was 7-3? ;) He retired 12-6-1 & was KO'd 3x.

In other words....if we are talking about Williams losing that fight-just last week...would we not do to him what we are doing to Wilder after his loss? Joshua after his 1st loss?:hmmm:

Fury was the lineal champ and has yet to lose, defeated the long reigning Kltischko by beating him at his own game. No shame in Wilder kinda losing or getting drubbed by this dude.

If I were to put Wilder after this loss against Williams after his 1st...I'd say Wilder wins. The Williams that lost to Liston, probably was at his peak- but he lost to a strong guy with under rated boxing skills..and Liston had to adjust. IMO that Big Cat that lost to Sonny? Probably beats the best version of Deontay.

In other words, just not much to tell on Deontay following this loss. I'm not the kind of boxing fan that will dismiss a fighter over a loss, no matter how bad. It is the next fight that determines their destiny- how they bounce back.

Or as my Uncle Lee RIP- told me Ali was exposed as a clown & Foreman was going to conclude it...but the victory rewrote Ali's place in history. Had Ali just lost to Norton & gotten gift wins in the rematches...I'd like to think we'd rip him a new one...Ali was exposed would be every other thread on BF24!
So I am giving Deontay that same respect-let's see how he bounces back...if he can.

Not many were saying this before Fury put things into perspective.

Cleveland Williams stopped Big Ernie Terrell in round 7, on April 3 1962, and dropped a split verdict to him approximately a year later in a bout refereed by Sonny Liston. Cleve was a big hitter, he broke Sonny Liston's nose in their 1959 bout, before being stopped by Liston, early in the bout. Williams was avoided by Floyd Patterson, when Floyd was champion, per Cus D Amato. Deontay Wilder a good fighter appears to be hurt when fighting a power punching fighter as seen in his bout against the aging challenger Luis Ortiz, in their first bout. Recently he was dethroned as champion by challenger Tyson Fury, who stopped Wilder by TKO 7. Williams is a plodder, slow of foot, but will have Deontay fighting backwards, which is not good for him. I know I might not be popular to say this, but I see Big Cat scoring a stoppage late. The Williams I speak of is the Williams prior to his unfortunate shooting by a Texas State Trooper in 1964. Even Sonny Liston respected Williams power.

Its no debate mate, Big Cat mixed in much better company whether he lost or not, Wilder couldn't survive that opposition that beat CW either

It's not accurate, it's been pointed out to you that it's not accurate but in keeping with your penchant for the worst possible verbal diarrhea you keep repeating it.

Wilder beat two top contenders. That's significant. It's also rare right now. If you weren't the type of guy who thought a 50% land rate for a jab was "low", you would know this.

Yes it was pointed out after this post wasn’t it?

In an “all time great sense” the draw with Fury is the most significant thing Wilder has done so far. Let’s hope he achieves more. But right now, that is it. You can harp on about Stiverne and Ortiz being ranked but beside the comparison of drawing with Fury it is really a bit wishy washy isn’t it? Yes technically they were good wins over rated fighters, I agree but the draw with Fury is more significant.

I mean once George Foreman beat joe Frazier and ken Norton his first ranked wins were kind of forgotten. He beat chuvalo which was a great win that launched him after beating Boone Kirkman and Peralta.. but in a historical sense nobody really lists those earlier guys as feathers in his cap. Just like nobody really lists guys like Bernie Reynolds or Freddie Beshore for Marciano.

Fury dosnt really have that much more either. He pipped Klitschko (when he was the real champion) and stopped Wilder. That’s good enough for now. Even boxing news reported that Fury and Wilder were both looking for their first win over prime world class opponents after drawing with each other.

Wtf are you on about? Who is saying that Wilder is ATG? Is that what you are trying to say? Sweet Jesus.
