his last 2 opponents haven't even been in the top 50, now he's facing Shawndell Terell Winters? WHO? what do these fights do for him?
I think Parker should Win.....but I give Shawndell at 39 a real Punchers chance....I think Parker is a tad over rated.!!!
It’s a shame his career is turning into what is a C level go through the motions career I really thought he was going to be a world-class contender who would come back and make another run at the titles
I have never heard of Shawndell before this week. He's 39. With a record of 13-2. Here's the weigh-in. I'll just leave that here. No comment. This content is protected
I think Parkers struggles are for two primary reasons. He lacks the hunger(probably content financially) and is too loyal to his current team. Its been clear that he's needed better coaching for a while. a more aggressive Parker who sits down on his punches more is a real nightmare for the division. All of the top dogs should feel fortunate that his full potential hasn't been awoken by a Roach, Sanchez or Sugar hill.
Parker knows himself deep deep down in his heart that he will never hold a major belt again nice guys finish last. That’s why aj and Whyte beat him
He can't force the top guys to fight him. Bad luck cost him the opportunity to fight Chisora and Chisora didn't want to reschedule, Wach and other similarly or more credible opponents priced themselves out or refused to fight him and a year out was already too much for Parker so he just needed someone to beat convincingly. He needs to stay away from fighting in the UK as well, his only losses being solely attributed to him is a bit rubbish. On any other day in any other place he would have beaten Whyte and we don't know how he would have done against AJ because the rules of that fight apparently involved maintaining a distance which suited AJs preferred range. Parker has been showing more dog in his recent fights and is clearly driven, this is the best shape I've seen him - just seems suitable dance partners know he has got more dangerous since those losses and not keen
Not only are these other 'elite' fighters picking low ranked opponents, they're all around 40! Just enjoy the opponents Parker, Pulev and the rest pick, it makes the critiques of Wallin all the funnier, especially considering Wallin was basically openly supposed to be a tune up but he was still a young undefeated and good size HW with a ranking. Why didn't Parker fight Wallin? How many times does Chisora have to be recycled as a genuine 'good' opponent when the guy has almost double figure losses by now? And I include Usyk in that. Let's get something clear. Fury took Chisora's 0 back in 2011! That Chisora was a bit of a handful, going the distance with Vitali. It's 2020 now and Parker's team were trying to get that fight as though it was meaningful for an ex champion.
He's the guy that upset Oleksandr Teslenko, who many considered a serious heavyweight prospect (although he flew under the radar and sort of languished facing ****-poor opposition for a few years) Still not a good look, and I'm on Team Parker. He must start to do better after this.
