wilders manager have confirmed that Wilder is taking the rematch next I don’t think it’s what you would call “official”, yet, though
Yeah, too early to tell. Right now, behind Wilder's back, Finkel and them will be talking about step-aside money. Nothing nefarious in that, it's just business.
Usyk will trigger his mandatory clause after he beats Chisora.. Hearn is talking a big game but Joshua is booked out for the rest of the year. They don't want any part of Fury just yet.
Well this might roadblock a third fight, if accurate: From ESPN.... "The fight, which received massive promotion from both outlets, generated between 800,000 and 850,000 buys, multiple sources told ESPN. While that is the biggest American heavyweight pay-per-view total since Lennox Lewis-Mike Tyson generated a hair under 2 million buys in 2002, Wilder-Fury II needed to sell about 1.2 million subscriptions for the event to break even, according to sources. Wilder and Fury were guaranteed more than $25 million apiece on a deal that was 50-50 between the sides. The third fight flips to 60-40 in favor of the Fury side since he won." ____________________ How many will buy PPV for a third fight after the 2nd was so decisive? They not gonna take another, potentially bigger, financial hit....
We all want Fury v Joshua next. Wilder will want the rematch, biggest fight available to him and will want to avenge his loss. I dont see him going in with legit contenders like Whyte to improve his boxing, hes just too old and the top contenders to dangerous, he could lose in the process. If the ppv numbers are to be believed. It might be hard to make the rematch. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.
It needed to sell “1.2 million subscriptions to breakeven” ? good GOD, there must have been a lot of promo/ purse money wrapped up in that Hopefully the financial loss will deter a third fiasco, which no one wants to see Fury has proven to be the superior fighter between the two over the 19 total rounds they fought Please no third ——waste of time ——let’s move on
Finkel is so ****. I think he has lost his facilities. Finkel will make deontay take whatever the worst possible outcome ford deontay Wilder is, as he did turning down the 100 million from dazn. The best thing deontay can do is take the step aside money and rematch the winner of aj v fury. So it's not going to be that.
tbf, they gambled and lost. The DAZN numbers were about 30m a fight. Wilder has probably made more than that for this past fight (25m plus ppv piece)and he's not far off if not. Had he won, accepting DAZN would have ben the disaster, but even as a loss, i dunno. Let's just say he covered the 33m for the first fight with Fury this fight. Rematch with Fury - let's be conservative and say he get 15m. I think it will be a LOT more than that. But conservatively. If he wins (he won't, but if he does) he'll still measure the DAZN deal in a Joshua fight. If he loses, I think he'll fall short by 20m ish. Had he won, I honestly think he would have made that 100m look like chump change.
Good work by Hearn. It helps keep Joshua relevant, 1-2 years from now they will fight Fury twice, then he will Cash-out Joshua vs Deontay Wilder
I think the third fight should be delayed till september october for a number of reasons. 1. It needs a longer build up if the fighters want the money they expect as it got nowhere near the buys expected, the promo being crammed into the final week hurt the buys. 2. the danger of this corona virus getting in the way of sporting events, is very very real as we have seen with serie a, might affect people wanting to travel. 3. Wilder took a beating he will need time to recover. 4. Fury will want time to spend with his family, its a mentally testing stuff being in camps for potentially life and death matches with a man who hits as hard as willder does, let him enjoy his victory for a bit spend time with the family.
There is no chance in hell he could ever make the 100 Mill over three fights without taking the dazn deal It wasn't a case of gambling and losing. Finkel and haymon made him act against his own best interests, probably by blowing smoke up his arse. At no point ever did not taking the dazn deal look like a smart or clever option.
Completely disagree. 30M for the first Fury fight (25M guarantee). Big end of the rematch, i'd say minimum 30m again, probably a LOT more. 50-120M for the Joshua fight, i've no idea how much, colossal figures though. He would have blown that DAZN deal straight out of the ****ing water. Look, you have a problem with Finkel and I understand that. But he's not an actual swivel eyed mongol. He doesn't take duffel bags of money and lob them off a bridge in downtown Manhattan in the middle of the night. He doesn't feed emeralds to geese. If you honestly think Finkel left millions on the table in the case of a winning Deontay Wilder, you have a perspective problem.
