NOPE - he is just rebuilding after the Chisora fight got cancelled. Tune-up for Parker on his way back to challenge for the title. All the big guys do it.
Haven't posted much in 5 years. I like Parker, seems like a nice guy. Speaks well, etc. But I have to agree w/your view. The fight vs. Chisora was a good test. Just don't understand why he's taking this fight. Is Parker that concerned about the effects of his illness due to the spider bite?
As I said earlier and as anyone paying attention to his career knows - Chisora didn't want to reschedule and Parker has been trying hard to get a good opponent. He's at the point now where everyone are dodging him
He needed to change trainer and manager after the AJ and Whyte losses. To gain that extra 5% it takes to go to the next level, and not go backwards. He is now in his comfort zone going nowhere, as I predicted. I see he is chasing a Whyte rematch desperate for another pay day. But he hasnt got world class training, and his training/camps are clearly stale. So he is in terminal decline now.
You say it like Chisora is kinda scared of fighting him... The truth is Parker got cold feet twice.. First he refused to fight Chisora because 12 weeks of training camp wasnt enough, then he got bit by a spider and went on partying with Tyson Fury instead.. So I can understand Chisora doesnt want to waste any time on this guy.
If he isn't fighting Joshua, Fury, Wilder, Povetkin, Whyte, or Ortiz the last couple years... ...these sentiments will remain. Oh well. I highly highly doubt it is Parker preventing those matches.
Agreed. It's a shame really, because he really has talent, but doesn't have the skill set to compliment those tools. He's 28 now and should be nearing his prime years but is wasting his time. Even if he doesn't leave Kevin Barry there's no reason why he couldn't bring in another coach to add to his repertoire and keep Barry as the head coach. Those fast combinations worked well against low level opposition that just stood there to be hit, but he has no way to deliver them at the top level. He's added to his skills to some degree as an out boxer but he really needs to learn how to slip inside to let his hands go and press opponents without leaving himself susceptible to counters. If he could do that then he'd be a threat again.
Chisora fighting Usyk Whyte fighting Povetking Ruiz Jr probably fighting Ortiz Hunter having fought Povetkin and the undefeated Kuzmin last year But he was meant to fight Chisora so I think he'll get back on track soon
