All bias aside, do you think people are being way too harsh on Deontay Wilder?

Yes, people always overreact to the latest fight. If they dislike a fighter, then their view becomes biased.

Truth be told, I find many boxing fans to be infinitely more annoying and dumb than boxers themselves.

Are people being too harsh on Wilder?

No, he's getting his just deserts. He's a thoroughly repulsive and narcissistic individual who's mercilessly mocked other fighters past and present and proclaimed himself the best despite doing nothing to justify his stance. He claims to be a family man but repeatedly has bragged about wanting to kill someone in the ring multiple times, and has actually physically attacked people outside the ring including having his team jumping Dominic Breazeale in a hotel lobby in front of his wife and kids.

As a champion he was a disgrace, constantly avoiding threats and having his team get him absolute patsies for mandatories (Bermane Stiverne) while avoiding actually deserving fighters like Whyte (this is more a criticism of his team and the WBC, but Wilder made no complaints about it and even taunted Whyte). He refused to unify with Joshua on multiple occasions and then had the gall to call Joshua a fake champion after he lost to Ruiz, then came out with a ream of pathetic excuses after his own loss.

In the ring he fights with a total disregard for the rules; he blatantly rabbit punched Molina after he had turned away, hit Audley while he was down, slapped and hammer fisted numerous opponents in clinches, and tossed fighters to the floor.

He should be grateful people are just mocking him, and if he's any sort of man he'll suck it up and get back to business. His fans would do well to do the same.

I’d love to see Deontay Wilder bounce back. Yes I think people are being way too harsh. He showed the heart of a lion. Never quit. It’s only 1 loss. It bugs me the most how people are trying to discredit his power and all of his wins now. I think he’s gonna bounce back. It’s too bad there weren’t message boards like this in the 80’s/90’s. I wonder what people would’ve been saying on here after Mike Tyson vs. Quick Tillis or Lennox Lewis vs. Oliver McCall 1. Couple of overrated hype jobs eh?

Yeah people are being quite harsh, I say he signed up for it. Guys like Martinez for instance, when Cotto whooped him, Sergio IMO got the benefit of the doubt because we knew he was humble in victory or defeat.
Talk big? Got have a big game or get a big dose of crow pie. Bon appetite my former HW champ DW!

Internet in any era -surely would roast any of our beloved ATGs.

Too late for all of that. And Wilder is not Klitschko to stay top notch competitive that long.
The only thing that really was keeping Wilder was that he was avoiding dangerous fight. But he took a beaten from Ortiz twice, Fury beat him twice, and he eat a beaten from his other bums opponent as well. Guess what happen when he step with more serious contenders. He is going to get seriously hurt.
And when you are already teached of something, and you stick and use that for so long, even if your doing that the wrong way, its very hard to go back and learn it do in it the right away.
So yes its too late, and he will decline fast if he is not starting yet.
As far as get no yes man in the corner, its what Wilder want, its his fault. There was plenty of reports that this dummy doesn`t want to learn or do stuffs, he don`t like or don`t think its useful for him. So trainer just quit working with him.
You can get 2-3-4-5 of the best trainer to teach him, but if he doesn`t want to learn, you can`t do anything about it.

Are you sure? One of these Wilder threads someone pointed out the look of bewilderment on his face in just the 2nd round. I noticed that as well.
Not saying the 40lb voodoo jumpsuit played a role, but something changed his demeanor. May have been the 1st round 1/2 of him wondering if this dude leans 273lbs on me all night like he's done the 1st 4 plus minutes....good grief!

I think a lot of the criticism existed even before he lost to Fury.

It's no secret to anyone that his boxing skills are rudimentary at best and just plain awful at worst.

It's no secret he's been protected, facing hand picked opposition while at the same time steered away from threats even when offered record paydays.

All the things being said are nothing new, it's just now we've got the evidence to back up what many people already thought of Wilder and those that defended him before now no longer have a leg to stand on when arguing their side of the debate.

People are so damn sensitive these days. Wilder enjoys portraying himself as the villain just like Mayweather did. If you actually see any of Wilder’s interviews outside of press conferences, he’s a humble good dude.

I’ve seen people say oh wilder should retire now like cmon man....Wilder lost to the best heavyweight in the world, there’s no shame in that. Until proven otherwise, he’s still a top heavyweight if not the second best out there.

Skill or no skill, he’s the biggest puncher I’ve ever seen. And all the people calling him a bum are the same people who would **** their pants if they got close to a boxing ring. Internet trolls think they’re cool untill life happens.

I dunno, I mean I'm not into bashing Wilder the guy or hearing excuses about costumes. I think he needs to work on a lot of boxing things in the gym.
I just know Wilder got hammered on the night by a better boxer in Tyson Fury.

Agreed with all accept the last sentence lol!

My leg is still the same, as I was a realist. Wilder was champ because of that 1-hitter quitter. Now had he landed it flush 2nd fight and Fury ate it like skittles candy?

Then I would have no legs to stand on in a true debate of Wilder. Kudos to Fury he defused the right hand with 273lbs of flesh. Movement, wisdom and a pretty nice body shot!
Fans of boxing who picked Wilder like me? I did it based on emotion, not logic. Logic dictates that Wilder is an average boxer. But compare him to Fury's skills and he cant box worth a damn! So we will be alright - and still have that debate locked up with:

1 second to land a clean shot in 36 minutes...is a looooonnnggg time to evade!!
