My money is on Mikey with confidence. No way Davis doesn't get caught with that right hand at some point.
What if Mikey tries & fails to hurt Gervonta Davis....then the Tank steamrolls Mikey Garcia for the rest of the fight (very possible scenario) Gervonta Davis Height: 5'05" Reach: 67" Mikey Garcia Height: 5'06" Reach: 68"
I just think a volume puncher like Davis gets caught at somepoint and hurt by Mikey. Sure Davis could do what Vargas did tonight and out throw Mikey but there is a big price to pay. Vargas is a huge WW that is ready to fight at 154. He was hurt multiple times tonight by the much smaller Garcia. Garcia's power comes from his timing and a volume puncher like Davis seems taylor made for him.
Gervonta would have to outbox Garcia because he sure as hell isn't KO'ing him. Mikey hanndles him with ease.
Mikey is all wrong for little Tank. Mikey is still prime, a very good boxer with ring IQ levels above Davis. This would be one of Mikey’s easiest fights and would not end well for Tank. It’s not worth discussing because the little cherry picker Tank has no interest in fighting Mikey or any of the top LWs (okay, Mikey isn’t technically a LW these days). Tank fights smaller guys moving up, older guys (preferably with one functioning leg) and no-hopers. His team cares more about marketing, conning his sucker fans, than actual boxing matches. Tank is not a serious fighter at this stage and I don’t see that changing any time soon. He doesn’t deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as Mikey Garcia.
Mikey Garcia is probably too advanced for Tank at this point, and there's no shame in that. Tank's 25 - Garcia was only just beginning to step it up at 25. Tank's had one fight at 135 he should be thrown in with an experienced champion who fights at 147 now? Part of the problem that many fans have when it comes to them criticising fighters for being brought on too slowly or ducking opponents is they're often comparing them to eastern European fighters who often have hundreds of amateur fights and turn pro in their mid to late 20s. These guys are ready for challenges early on, it would make no sense for them to learn on the job quite so much. They don't have more balls, they're not superior specimens - they've just done the groundwork in the amateur sphere instead.
