It's been a long time since I've seen a post fraught with so many glaring errors. Contrary to your claim, Liston stopped Williams twice within three rounds, once in the second and once in the third round. Also contrary to your post, Sonny stopped Besmanoff in the seventh round. Also, it should be noted that Moore fought Besmanoff twice. The first fight was a split-decision victory for Moore in Louisville and the second was a Moore stoppage in the 10th round at Indianapolis, but not before Willi had scored a second-round knockdown over Archie. So the series between Moore and Besmanoff was not so one-sided as a person reading your post might believe. Also, please note that Archie Moore never fought Eddie Machen, nor did Ingo ever fight Besmanoff.

If your claim is that Liston's stoppages were not clean knockouts, but TKOs, I would point out to you that Moore's stoppage of Besmanoff in Indianapolis was also a TKO, so to be consistent, it is only reasonable to conclude that your entire discussion was meant to include TKOs under the category of knockouts.

I can hardly criticize you for the fact that English is not your first language since, except for a little bit of French, I only speak and write English. I do mean to point out, however, that your facts are mostly erroneous. I think it is important to jump on such blatant inaccuracies because otherwise others will be misled and the mistakes are likely to be repeated in future postings.

Either way, sooner or later, Liston is taken out of the ring in a stretcher. Dude was a bully and had no heart, nowhere near enough to take down Marciano.

So because Satterfield ko'd a 20 years old 2 day substitute Williams this means Williams was china chinned?
Were the other 34 men Satterfield kod china chinned too?
Williams was stopped 8 times by big hitter Satterfield, by big hitter Liston x2,by the greatest heavyweight of them all Ali by big hitter Mac Foster x2,by big Hitter Al Jones and by good hitter Al Blue Lewis.
That's 8 times in 94 fights ,and for the two Foster fights he was 36 years old for the Lewis one 37 and for Jones36.

Oh and Liston kod him in2 rds in their second fight.
And Liston beat Besmanoff in 6rds

"Besmanoff absorbed a barrage of punches in the sixth and was bleeding from several bad gashes over his eyes. The referee stopped the bout between rounds at corner's request and it was scored a seventh round knockout." (Associated Press)

You don't continue to fight with a broken jaw and lose a close decision if you have no heart, that's just fatuous.

Marciano never went to war he was in the pioneer corps stationed in the UK,courtmartialed and imprisoned for robbing a gay couple and dishonorably discharged back in the US.
You think Marciano had a harder life than Liston?Liston was one of 12 children his Father used to beat him with a strap, he ran away from home while still a kid.

It would be nice if he acknowledged the corrections but so far he hasn't.

So you believe a 5-10 inch heavyweight with a 69 inch reach weighing 188 pounds who fought as a swarmer coming forward is going to go straight at a 6'2 heavyweight power puncher with a 84 inch reach who possessed the hardest jab in history and weighed 215 to 220.
Moore dropped Rocky, Walcott dropped Rocky in his prime, both were old men at the time. Liston destroys him, this time Marciano hits the canvas more than once and eventually stays there

    Stay in your lane, Limey.

Rocky was still good press stateside thru the 60's.

Jet picked Liston over Marciano and that was about it.

This is the horsesh*t that no-nothings perpetuate. Marciano was plenty tough but had only to be tough against the likes of ancient undersized fighters. Liston is getting crap for sitting against the greatest heavy who ever lived? When he was well past the age that Marciano retired? When he had a legit injury confirmed by Miami physicians? When he survived most of a full fight with a broken jaw?

In the 2 biggest fights of Liston's career....(the Ali debacles in '64 & '65) ....he failed miserably!!!

The Rock had more heart then Sonny ever had...In Liston's 2 most important fights...(the 2 fights with Clay/Ali)...he failed miserably!!! You could "out- gut" Liston!!!

Weird. I thought his title winning fight and rematch might have been his biggest. You're smart.

BTW, who did Marciano face who was 1/3rd as good as Clay/Ali?

And if you really want to send the lad over the edge, you could add Dempsey to the mix.
