We saw what happened in 1988 when Spinks came up against an absolutely prime Mike Tyson, but could the Spinks who beat Holmes in 85 have a chance vs the Tyson who lost to Holyfield in 1996??
Tyson wins anyway . it is a stylistical thing. Like frank bruno. I think that prime Tyson would knock out a prime larry Holmes too
Still an early victory for Tyson. Even the more agile and well trained Spinks from 85 wouldn't be able to avoid getting hit hard by Tyson. Maybe he can outbox the 2002-2003 Tyson and wear him down in 12 Rounds. In Tyson's short prime he could beat anybody.
don't get me wrong: i mean he possibly could. I don't guarantee it. So he has a pretty good chance against Ali, Louis...etc. at least 20-50%. But i have to accentuate that: in his very short prime.
I think 1985 Spinks might pull the trick...against Holyfield. But not against 1996 Tyson. This would definitely be a better fight and I see Spinks last until the 5th or possibly the latter mid rounds. 1996 Mike Tyson still had some speed but his infighting and combination punching were either non-existent or very poor. A far cry from 1987/1988 Iron Mike.
Wow. Hard to say. The style makes me think Mike would land a body punch. I really don't know in this one.
Spinks was always a slow starter, most of it was tactical as he wanted to get a look at his opponent early. Tyson was always a fast starter. The first few rounds would be very dangerous for Spinks, if he did survive early I see him winning the fight vs this version of Tyson. Tyson is about as bad a matchup for Spinks as you’ll find. A fast starter (the fastest starter ever) against a slow starter. Tyson’s combination Of tenacity, hand speed, combination punching and punching power are pretty much unparalleled. But by 96 he was no longer that guy so Spinks has a chance here.
