Never in this World is this a PPV event .last week we saw Vargas , m Garcia , chocolito etc for free now we have to pay £20 for 2 average boxers . It’s a no from me
Looking forward to the fight but gotta say if it is gonna be 24.95 then that does not seem value for money tbh!!
Without doubt apart from Joshua this is whytes hardest fight, I think Whyte will win on points but povetkin will be the best boxer he has faced and if Whyte doesn't have success in the first six rounds I can see it being a very close fight, fair play to Whyte he doesn't need to be taking these fights but he continues to fight the best of the rest.
How many PPVs has Whyte had now ? Will this be his 4th ? Chisora 2, Parker, Rivas and now Povetkin ? Lucas Browne wasn't a PPV was it ?
You’re right, along with your other post, I get why it’s a PPV. A mate of mine who’s a casual fan of the sport posted on our whatsapp group that this is gonna be a barnstormer. This is the kind of customer Sky are marketing at. However, we understand the context of this fight as boxing fans and we can say that this product that’s being sold for £20 is actually not what it says on the tin. Commercially, it’s viable to sell it to (as our mate Jurgs puts it) ‘the mugths’. Morally, it’s totally, utterly wrong.
I wouldn't put it past old man Pov to pull off a win here. At his best he was levels above Whyte. I'm half interested in this fight but a p***take PPV.
It’s a great fight and should definitely be entertaining. PPV though? Even though it is the “norm” nowadays, it’s scandalous. Hopefully we can look forward to a “stacked” card.
Wouldn't surprise me if Povetkin got the win, Whyte looked poor against Wach, he's already been in a few wars too many imho! Hopefully it's the regular 19.99 and Edeh keeps his word on 24.99 being an exception not the general price.
Povetkin will be madly overlooked but really shouldn’t be, only problem is he hasn’t got the gas tank against the younger fighter - Whyte will get him late on.
Why is it morally wrong? It’s nothing more than trying to extract the most out of a product as they can, which is basically how pretty much every business in the world works.
We’ve been over this before...ok, a payday lender is offering a short term loan for a ridiculous APR. It’s exploitive but obviously it’s financially viable for the company to do this, after all, it’s extracting the most out the product (the loan). It may have been legal, but it’s morally wrong. Just because you can rinse the customer, it doesn’t mean you have to. Of course, they can do that if they wish but I can point out that it’s morally wrong to do so. Povetkin isn’t a PPV fighter. He’s 40 year old, coming off a draw that was really a loss. He is willing to fight for non ppv money as exemplified in his recent fights against Hughie and Hunter. In terms of earning power, I don’t reckon you’d have to break the bank to get him these days. Dillian Whyte as just fought on a undercard against Wach. He jumped on it, out of shape with a very damaging PED case being conveniently dismissed. He needs to rebuild his reputation to an extent imo especially after getting chinned a lot in an underwhelming performance against Wach. You don’t need to charge the customer PPV money to get these two in the ring, which is what I thought the whole idea of PPV was, which was to create enough of a purse to entice two otherwise unaffordable fighters to get in the ring together. None of whom are belt holders, one of whom as never held a world title or even fought for one. You see what I mean here....it’s ‘morally wrong’. Legal, yes. Financially viable, yes. Exploiting a customer base, yes.
That’s a weak comparison. People are pushed into payday loans because they’re skint and desperate and need the money to pay their rent or keep the heating switched on. Nobody is forced into watching Dillian Whyte out of pure survivalist desperation. A better comparison would be why any company charges more than they need to for non-essential products.
Another top 10 opponent for whyte. It's a difficult fight for him as well. As for being PPV, no one really pays for them do they? So many ways to watch for free these days.
