Few of you boys in here damn high on Justis Huni, big predictions n dare to dream... I had a look on olympic channel morning schedule n it says from 7.30pm 3rd march, evening session from 1.30am, so assuming thats local Aust times?? Cant find a schedule or even boxers in what weight class of yet.... Cheers for J.Mitchell update...
The draw is out for the Olympic qualifiers at the Asian & Oceania tournament. Justis Huni is seeded straight through to the quarter finals meaning he only has to win one fight to qualify for the Olympics. If he wins that fight, it's into the semi-finals and a probable match-up with the World #2 Super Heavy from Kazakhstan who has made the final of the last two World Amateur Championships. Win that & it's into the final against the #1 ranked Super Heavy & 2019 World Amateur champion from Uzbekistan. Three BIG fights & a date with destiny for young Justis next week.
More breaking news on the Stifler's Mum thread - Andrew Moloney has been upgraded to WBA regular Jr. Bantam champ status following Kal Yafai's defeat on the weekend. Roman Gonzalez is Super champ. All the BIG news & BIG Australian boxing stories, right here, FIRST, on the Stifler's Mum thread!
I think Rohan Murdock is potent offensively which would have given him a chance of doing something on the international stage. The problem is he hasn't fought since December 2018. He didn't fight at all last year which means he will be significantly underdone. I saw his last fight and he was stopped hard in his tracks several times by a guy with a modest record but who appeared to me was decent. He needed to build on that performance during the course of last year but hasn't. The way he was stopped dead in his tracks several times after getting hit flush also concerns me. So I'm not expecting much from Rohan on the weekend. I did put $20 on him though in anticipation of a good performance. I don't want to miss out if he brings it!
Watched the 2 Aussie boys in amateur qualification overnight on olympic channel thx to info on here... Rd of 32 for both (the middle n the light heavy) Middleweight guy (21yo) won by 2nd rd RSC, think he has no 1 or 3 seed in rd16.. I liked the look of our light heavy guy, won easily n into rd16.... Im yet to check todays schedule n what weightclasses are competing... Id forgotten how different the amatures are from the pro’s.... I watched a few other bouts, some very tallented guys for 1st rd of regional qualification, hoping a few Aussie’s get thru n I’ll actually be looking fwd to Olympic tournement....

* Chris Murkett conditioning coach for Dennis Hogan now conditioning coach for the Hornet. * Annoucement for the Horn vs Tszyu expected next week and Townsville MP Scott Stewart says it into the championship rounds for the megabout. Liam Wilson is expected to be the main co feature. * Jayde Mitchell blaming weight problems for loss last Sat and expected to return June. * DAZN now operating in the UK and lets hope they can do the same in Aust as they trying to set up office in Sydney. * Rohan Murdock vs Zach Parker even though they are rated no 1 and 2 is not an official eliminator. Parker is $ 1.40 Murdock $ 4. Expect Parker like Fundora did closer to Lewis fight to firm. * Fox negotiating to have Dominic Boesel vs Zac Dunn to be shown Sun March 28 morn and Lucas Browne vs Apti Davtaev on Sun arvo. * NBS Sydney March will be free and live on Fox Main Event. Fox appreciate the effort to show boxing but the Fox customers who subscribe via Fox Go and Kayo will not see this .
The fight was close I am surprised Mitchell didn't get the decision being the hometown fighter. If he was from QLD and the fight was up there he would've won by UD
* Correction DAZN is in fact already operational. There world wide expansion now includes Aust. Canelo next fight in May will be the first major event on DAZN in Aust. They have a star studded roster and will mean most likely access to live MMA presented by Bellator. No pricing or terms yet but will be a game changer like Netflix . * Daniel Lewis has extended contract with Top Rank and after NBS Sydney May will most likely head back to the States. * Thurs was the funeral of Raider's legendary coach Don Furner. Mention this not because i'm a huge NRL follower but also because of the link to Aust boxing. Don had eight pro fights in his early 20's. He lost the last of them when he attempted unsuccessfully to win the Aust HW Title in Brisbane in 1953 against Cec Meredith. RIP Champion Don Furner.
Good & bad news in overnight results. The good - Cesar Mateo Tapia stopped Steve Collins Jr in the first round to move to 12 and 0 with 7 kayos. I think he's our best Super Middle. Certainly the one with the most potential b/c he's still only very young. Could it be the start of a big weekend for our Super Middles? The bad - TJ Doheny lost on points to an unheralded type over 8 rounds. He's not a young bloke so needs to cash in from here. How about a fight with Brock Jarvis who has just moved to featherweight? We'd soon find out if Brock is the real deal or a media hype job.
