Don`t know if this should be in classic but I posted it because Fury just neutralised Wilder`s right hand while Holmes was dropped by the right hand of Snipes and the devastating right from Shavers, what would the outcome of Holmes v Fury be in their respective primes?

At the moment, talent wise, I would still go with Holmes. What's the difference in size and reach? Fury's jab is great but I remember Holmes having an incredible jab. Best I ever saw. Holmes faced dudes with crazy power like Shavers, he faced a lot of adversity in fights but would come through. I'm going with Holmes, probably a slowish start but breaks Fury down with the jab and stops him late.

For reference. The size difference is about 6 inches height, 5 inches reach and 50 lbs. Holmes was weighing in around 210-215 in the late 70s through the early 80s.

Makes it hard for Holmes to out jab him then! Let's take into consideration Holmes was born later and evolution etc had stretched him a little:risas3:.

50 pounds is a lot, he could probably do what he did too Wilder but it would still be much harder. Holmes would land shots in the process unlike Wilder.

Earlier in his career, Fury struggled with dudes Holmes would have eaten for breakfast. I do think Fury is the type who fights to his opponents level though, except in the last fight with Wilder.

Let's not forget that Gerry Cooney was roughly the same size as Fury. A very different Fighter for sure but Cooney's size did not inconvenience Holmes.

I don't know about that... Fury had 3 inches of height, 4 inches of reach and 40ish lbs on Cooney.

Cooney wasn't a bad fighter but he never delivered anything like Fury has. Fury is a level above the gent.

Absolutely. I just wanted to make the point that Fury's size alone would not necessarily have been a major factor.
