Holmes was a similar size to Usyk, too small for today's big men, especially given his style of boxing which was to jab from the outside.
Holmes' jab was insane - one of the best around. Size would be a factor, but I think prime Holmes would edge a fight against today's Fury, built on the jabs.
Mike Tyson is a Midget in this era of Heavyweights but he usually fought guys much taller than him outside of a few guys like Bonecrusher Smith he usually KO'd them in Highlite Reel Quality!! A Time Machine bringing the 1986 Mike Tyson to today would allow him to Clean Out the Heavyweight Division we have now like Dustin Nichols and Ruiz can Clean Out All You Can Eat Buffet Restaurants!!
The difference is huge, much much bigger, 4-5" in height, 4 stone difference at their peaks, reach im not sure but Fury will have the advantage too It was special Holmes jab but he aint landing it when Fury jabs with him or initiates a jab contest Fury would annihilate Shavers, completely destroy him. Long range mismatch, forget Shavers dig, hes a very small man next to Tyson People are really viewing this with the rose tinted specs man, Holmes gets stopped, Fury is 100 times better than Gerry Cooney, much bigger and more iq, Holmes is ****ed in this match up
I think that's a bridge too far for Larry, world class boxer that he was. If Fury couldn't move so well then you can make a case, but Fury's movement is world class. If he couldn't judge distance so well, but he can. etc etc. Full respect to Holmes who is way up on the ATG list, but I think this modern combination of super hw's with big height and reach advantages alongside the engines that modern diet nutrition and 'wild boar' bestowed is too much to handle for the smaller guys from times past. Or at least when the big guy is Tyson Fury. Maybe we need to split the HW division again and get these massive guys facing each other more often. In these theoretical fights we can make guesses without someone taking a pasting. Well my guess is Holmes takes too much punishment at range and when he does get inside is worn out with the weight of a 7 foot giant pressing on his shoulders.
How will I ?? Im talking current form, Fury against anyone ever would be extremely difficult, im not talking legacy, h2h here !
