Canelo Alvarez vs Billy Joe Saunders is set for May 2nd in Las Vegas

Great fight against a largely avoided, very awkward fighter, much like when he took on Lara.

This constant criticism of Canelo is becoming Mayweather-esque. What is it about winners that people hate so much? Meanwhile, forum favourite Golovkin has no date set with anybody and is potentially fighting Kamil Szeremeta? That should be attracting ridicule, never mind criticism.

 

Agreed....if Saunders trains properly and goes in with the right frame of mind, I would take him to outbox Canelo quite comfortably - and lose by a ridiculous paid for decision.

The excuses rolling in already! Y'all makin it seem like BJS is past his prime If BJS was having his best moments at 160 years ago where he would struggle to make weight, then he is majorly overrated. He's had a boring, average career and his best win is Lemioux... you can barely compare that to any of Canelo's recent fights/wins.

 

Canelo will eventually figure the slick BJS out but it will be midway so I’ll go with Canelo SD

I for one love Canelo as a fighter. It's everything else surrounding him that I hate, the corruption, the favoritism, the Las Vegas commission, the cards, etc. Canelo could go up to heavyweight for a title fight and I bet he'd still win the fight regardless of what happens in the ring. That's what sucks with him.

Part of the problem with Canelo is the mindset people have regarding boxers (and fighters in general). The fans want the best fighting the best, but when one of them loses then they're classified as bum, hype jobs, etc so no wonder companies wants to protect their assets and stack everything they can in their favor. You should be allowed to lose a fight, it's not a shame. The mindset people should have is: who cares if a fighter loses ? I'm still gonna support him. If Canelo had officially lost to GGG, would he be less popular ? I don't think so and it certainly shouldn't be so. I'd commend him for taking on a challenge, the best of the divison and holding his own. But when you have a card of 118-110 in his favor, you kind if forget about everything else.

If he really fights BJS, GGG and then Murata, that's a killer year right there and no one could say **** about it.

 

Even if he wins by KO you will find a way to call it controversial. "ohhhh Billy Joe was paid to hit the deck "

 

I agree with everything that you said and that Saunders will make Canelo look foolish and precarious and should do enough to win but Canelo will still win by SD .

 

Don't worry, if he wins he will get the victory. What you need to do here is take notes on how to really become great in the sport. Alvarez is showing you exactly how it's done by bringing you the fights that will keep you excited and talking for a long time. He can easily stay in any division and devour hopeless bums all his career, and still make a lot of money in the process. But no, he is doing what all other greats before him did instead. You can still be ignorant and hate, but you are forced to appreciate.
