Have the moderators SERIOUSLY just deleted the ENTIRE THREAD because the title was changed as a joke???? How ridiculous.
I'm not sure it matters, JT. I think most people had gathered there was something really not quite right there. The evidence you presented was fairly conclusive. What I found interesting is that I couldn't see the quoted text, between the two identities, because I had one of them on ignore. But then the question struck me - Why can't I see the other??? Anyway, since this thread has been rebooted and in the spirit of renewal, I'm going to suggest that Duran/Leonard is always going to be THE standout performance of Duran's career. However, there are some really quite amazing performances of Duran's, which are more than just worthy of note. I particularly like the Duran/Marcel bout. Duran was only 16-0 going into that fight and really just took it to Marcel - great action, which I would thoroughly recommend people watch. Duran/Palomino was another extraordinary and commanding performance, which often gets lost in the shadows of Montreal Duran. This fight, to me, set the tone for what was to come.
I said it in there, you were the voice of reason. So I nominate your picks for this one. DeJesus 3 Palomino Leonard 1 I'd also like to add Brooks, Ishimatsu, Ortiz, Bizzarro, Cuevas, Moore and Barkley as HMs for varying reasons. DurĂ¡n was animal on form.
I already said it but watching LW's journey is awesome. It's like in each fight he adapted to something by developing a new, ATG, aspect of his game before finally reaching the finished product in 78-79.
Palomino, the way he pieced him on the inside was legendary. Against a no slouch top tier welterweight.
Considering how raw he was the win over the educated and very skilled Buchanan was spell binding. So much ferocity and raw talent that was to be sculpted bit by bit by bit for a very long time.
I hadn't followed the thread for a while to be honest and hadn't read any of the recent posts. But as it was deleted so soon after I changed the title, it looked, to me, as though that was the reason.
