I think it was unprofessional of lead FOX commentator Brian Kenny to express such obvious disappointment that Kownacki did not win this fight. Neither he nor Lewis could even muster up any excitement to talk about what this win does for Helenius. Even though Kownacki was the "house"/PBC fighter, I think both fighters should have been treated with equal respect. Anyway, regarding Kownacki, I don't think his 2019 wins vs Washington and Arreola were sufficient to land him a world title eliminator fight. And how Helenius got the shot is anybody's guess, although I hold his 2018 KO win vs Erkan Teper in higher regard than probably most do here. Kownacki fought tonight like someone who's been protected his entire career, focusing entirely on offense without respecting what his opponent might have in return. His lack of defense was such that Helenius just needed a series of pretty standard left-rights to cause the stoppage. So now Helenius has a signature win, and becomes the #1 WBA heavyweight contender. He won't get Joshua anytime soon, though, because Joshua has mandatories due for the IBF vs Pulev, and the WBO vs Usyk. Joshua last defended the WBA title vs Povetkin in September 2018. It will be interesting to see whether Helenius will put himself on ice waiting for Joshua, or whether he will risk his status in one or two stay-busy fights. But either way I'm happy for him getting this big win, it will put him on the biggest stage he's had in his whole career.

golota would never call a bum like kownacki. Golota would dominate current HW division

if I am Helenius I try and get the Charr vs Bryan winner. That is a winnable fight for him. I don’t see why the WBA would have an issue with that.

There’s a restaurant called little poland on 2nd ave in Manhattan, they make low fat pierogi, kownacki should go there instead of greenpoint.

I do think if they offer him good money he will fight andy ruiz. If i were him i wouldnt fight a live body and just wait for my million payday agaisnt whoever the champion is by then ,cause he will have to wait a long time to get that shot

he was 39 and even at his best fury would have killed him. Fury can win a dog fight no problem and he has by far the best gastank out of the big guys, despite beeing the tallest and biggest. Wlad would never win against fury.

Can’t stand Kenny. Happily shills out for the fighters of whatever promotion is paying him that night. Seemed like he already had Canelo/Jacobs 120-108 for Canelo in the 2nd round

Prime wlad would beat Fury 9 times out of 10. Fury couldn’t kill 40yo wlad , zero chance he kills prime wlad

Just underlines that shocks happen in hw boxing. I think Kownacki can come back if he makes some adjustments to his game and condition. If the wba love him so much he should get a crack at Charr.
