Someone requested a 5 in 5 from the nicaraguan legend Alexis Arguello. This was a tough one to pick just five of this greats fights.

What do you think? Would you have picked different?

I feel Arguello`s right hand may have been a bit overrated, he wasn`t throwing the right hand correctly in these clips, I have seen a film study where he looks better than this though while fighting Kevin Rooney.

Gotta get me an Ezzard Charles fix. He's my absolute favourite. Ever.

If you want a challenge, I'd say go for my second favourite ever. Marvin Johnson

Definition of a correctly thrown right hand IMO is one that lands, not how it is thrown or looks in the process. Reading your statement a quote came to mind which was Carl Williams post interview after losing 1st time in his career to Holmes.

He stated while he had the more accurate & faster jab (which I agree he did)..he said a peculiar resolve claiming Holmes had the more experienced jab. Larry was shooting his jab str8 past the eye which allowed his laces to cut Williams eye. A bit dirty? or tricks of the trade?
Alexis str8 right is an arrow depending on who he is fighting like a Mancini or Pryor or as you stated Rooney, good observation. Arguello never fought down to his comp, rather he could adjust how he throws which is what great champs do: adjust!

I always wanted Alexis to move up and fight Roberto Duran at lightweight, I remember reading a ko magazine that said Arguello's management wanted nothing to do with that fight after Duran destroyed DeJesus in their 3rd fight. I think it would have been a barn burner of a classic but I can't see Alexis going the distance the way he engaged with fighters.
