Of course. But regardless of the opponent, what I saw from Plant in that fight was, imo, very promising. Hes easily becoming my favorite 'new' fighter.
I haven’t seen him fight against top opposition. He’s got talent and I hope to see him fight the best guys. Looking forward to seeing what he can do against the top SMWs.
Thats irrelevant to my point. A fighter can win a showcase fight and still look basic, limited, ect. Conversely, someone can win a showcase fight and can show dimensions to their skills that show promise, and can exhibit skills that then one can look forward to being tested against higher caliber fighters, to see how real they are. If I put an Edison Miranda type in there with Lee.... Miranda would beat him down with ease, coming forward and throwing a basic jab and a right hand. And I would say, ok.... well he did what he was supposed to do but we didnt see much and I cant really gauge much off of that. Plant did what he was supposed to do as well, but he showed a lot of ring intelligence and a varied skillset while doing it. The point being, the potential Plant showed (that now has to be shown that he can use on higher level fighters). Lee's level in this specefic context, is borderline irrelevent to my point.
Why is it surprising that his hands are fast? And why do you call him a hillbilly...just because he grew up in a low income household in Tennessee?
I was just goofing around. Often call my self and family members hillbillies. My wife does not like it so I should stop. The guy has fast hands, but will need more than that to beat top guys. On a personal note, I don’t like the guy. After hearing the story about how he handled things with his daughter’s illness and tragic death, making his girl take care of everything and then taking credit for all of it and deleting her name from the story when the relationship went sour tells me all I need to know about this guy. He’s a punk and I hope to see him get sparked out in the ring. Any guy who would do that deserves worse. I’ll watch his fights just to root for the opponent.
It's true though. If he loaded a bit more he would have more snap in his punches but he'd rather look flashy than throw damaging punches in a more conventional manner.
