Usually amateur results can't be reliably extrapolated to anticipate professional success - but in Usyk's case we happen to have a ridiculously large sample-size of direct head-to-head competition against internationally distinguished super heavyweights dwarfing Usyk in every quantifiable metric (height, reach, mass) and him faring, on the whole, tremendously well. I think combined with his debut versus Witherspoon it gives us a pretty clear idea that barring a crazy fluke upset he should, on paper, breeze past all but maybe four or five names - and that he should at worst be a very narrow underdog (if not evens, if not favored) against the Big 4/5.
Aside from the fact that they both won Olympic gold medals, Usyk is no Andre Ward. He’s no Leo “Frampton has to fight me twice on US soil, without me retiring the favor” Santa Cruz. Usyk personifies the word WORLD in World Champion.
David Haye cracks me up, You just know he's dreaming every night of being able to say Usyk KO'd Tony bellew but chisora ko'd usyk and i ko'd chisora.
Usyk should be the clear favorite here. Chisora has always struggled against movers and he is up against of the best movers in the game.
You are definitely losing that bet (and you know that deep down) . There's levels and Chisora can never beat Usyk.
Usyk couldnt even hurt let alone KO a week off the couch Witherspoon for 7 rounds but apparently hes going to KO the hardened veteran Chisora after packing on the pounds to move up a division and suffering debilitating bicep and elbow injuries. Well, I guess it is ok to dream. Dream on lads, dream on.
Calzaghe was a volume puncher particularly after his hands gave him problems. Usyk likes to cautiously work out his opponents before tightening the screws in terms of increasing volume and power. A fight similar to the one against Bellew is a distinct possibility. Chisora may not respect Usyk's power until he starts to get seriously tagged. Derek may continue with a risky attack that would see him get stopped by his corner or he may land something big enough to slow Usyk down enough for Usyk to realise a safe UD is better than being laid out flat. Whilst Chisora rushes forward it will look like Calzaghe vs Lacy. DC may try to turn it into an ugly wrestling slugfest but Usyk has great legs and stamina, and he will gas if he does it for too long. It is an interesting fight but I think Usyk will be too much stamina, speed and boxing IQ for Chisora to break him down. If Chisora goes into his shell you know that he knows Usyk would knock him out.
I’m very excited for this fight. I’ve grown to like Del Boy over the years and Usyk is the man of the hour. No one is giving Chisora much of a chance but I say....not so fast
I disagree. I think this will be a competitive entertaining fight. I don’t count Chisora out at all and being that this bout takes place across the pond...anything can happen.
