This, of course, is the correct advice.

An economic downturn is NOT anywhere near as dangerous as this virus. This virus if left to spread could provide an actual threat to humanity as a whole, look up the facts. It's mutating at an alarming rate, it's unlike anything bio experts have ever seen. What happens if through passing through millions of hosts it mutates towards a death rate similar to it's cousin SARS? This is not a reality that any of the world health experts want to come to pass, take this seriously. Economies recover, nearly 10% of people who this current virus passes through don't.

I'm very sorry. I'm not trying to twist your words. But to take you at your word, in this thread, you have said:

'I don't see the logic in stopping crowds and events. The economy and the lives of the people will suffer far more by closing everything down than if people just got sick, took 2 or 3 weeks off work, and carry on as normal.'

This is nonsense. The reason this cannot happen is because the numbers getting sick at the same time won't just be a few weeks off then carry on as normal. Vast numbers will die including young people because the NHS plainly cannot cope.

'the economy could suffer so bad from that that we'll all die of poverty anyway.'

Do you believe this? You've said you're calm about it, but your idea of what we should do isn't happening and yet you suggest we could 'all die?' Really?

'Most people can't survive twenty weeks of shut downs, the country can't survive it in any real way.'

The country can't survive it in any real way? Really?

'Letting the economy fall to pieces is the surefire way to make people die, millions upon millions of them, for decades to come.'

Millions and millions of people 'made to die' for decades to come?

'And the shutting down of the economy won't kill millions and destroy society?'

I've noted the question mark. 'Destroy society?' You really think that will happen?

'Poverty and political instability leads to hundreds of millions of deaths through starvation, disease and war.'

You think shutting shops, bars and restaurants down for c. twenty weeks will lead to hundreds of millions of deaths? Do you really think that?

A final comment from you: 'What I'm saying is far from scaremongering.'

You have mentioned that we could all die from poverty. That the country possibly cannot survive in any real way. That the economy may fall to pieces. That millions and millions could be made to die. That society may be destroyed. That there may be hundreds of millions of deaths through starvation, disease and war. And this isn't scaremongering? Pray tell me, if this isn't, what the hell is?

If WW2 was happening right now @Unforgiven would be posting "We should just ignore the Germans, if we shut down the country and go to war more people will die from unemployment. Sure Germany will murder millions of innocent people but more would die from poverty if we try stop them".

As I am 71, I'd rather stay around ,perhaps you might think that way if you were older?
I must say I think you are overstating the probable effects of proposed measures.

Just have the fights in closed off venues . Don't re-fund tickets.

Why can’t these sporting events still go ahead? Surely they can as PPV only and with no crowd?

With the big fights like Dubois Joyce there is easily going to be enough PPV revenue to make it worth going ahead.

I wonder is there an issue getting doctors / ambulances. Every fight has to have a certain number of medical staff, if they aren't available due to Corona then it's understandable

Stay indoors then. That's the same advice I give to my father.
    I take it seriously.

I'm responding to the people who think "economic collapse" or "economy shut down" is just a case of monetary statistics and figures.
It's not. It is life and death issues, the same as the virus. People seem to have a mental blockage over this.
