My favorite quote from Roger was during the Gatti fight. As he is tending to Floyd he looks over his shoulder directly into the camera and said: "I told you he was gonna get his ass whooped." Turns to Floyd, pauses then looks back at the camera again and said: "...On H-B-O!"
Rocky Lockridge Julio Cesar Chavez twice Pernell Whitaker Kostya Tszyu To name the top fighters he faced. Then there's a list of excellent fighters he faced like Tony Baltazar Mario "Azabache" Martinez Freddie Pendleton Rafael Pineda Livingstone Bramble Zack Padilla Miguel Angel Gonzalez Vinny Pazienza Never ducked anyone during his era, if he was in position to fight a certain champion he'd sign up. Fought all through the 80's and 90's, a rich era in the sport of boxing. When you really think about it, he wasn't as great as Floyd Mayweather Jr., but his caliber of opposition imo was better than Floyds. Roger always showed up to fight, enjoyed his fights immensely. RIP CHAMP!
Wow 58! Boxing is a brutal sport . I dont blame Floyd for thinking health first. All the stupid talk about being a hero going toe to tow and getting smashed in the head just to please some fickle fans who wont give a rats about you once you are done.
I will always have a soft spot in my heart for Roger for decking Lou Duva at the end of the Paz fight. Lou was doing his usual A-hole routine running around the ring screaming at people, stirring up a bunch of shyte when he came at Roger who promptly decked with a right hand.
