I don`t think Manny would have done well fighting elite fighters at 154, Antonio moved up from welter and this bout was a catchweight.
Mayweather at age 16 was Golden Gloves light flyweight (106 pounds). I'm sure he could have been a champion in Asia and beaten Pacquiao if they were both 16 too. This whole 112 thing is one of the dumbest arguments from Pac fans.
Richardson should have been kicked out for the ludicrous " Plaster Blocks fell out of Margarito's wraps" LIE!! Why didnt anyone ask him where they dissappeared to ? No one else saw them.. Tony had over 2 years of forced unfair inactivity he wasnt even allowed to train. What happened to him was diabolical A good fighters name & reputation tarnished buy a blatant lie followed by the Keystone Kops (CSAC)acting like chickens with their heads cut off. But they succeed in the mission neither Floyd or Oscar had to face Margarito in the ring
Golden Gloves is a long way from fighting seasoned pro's at 16 yrs old like Pac was & Margarito was just to feed their families
It's impossible to have a sensible discussion about Antonio Margarito on a boxing/sports forum anymore. I realise this will fall on deaf ears, but the Plastergate argument can be boiled down to this;
That's precisely why I don't consider village fights in South America and Asia seasoned pros. It's people doing what they can to make a living. We have amateur system in the west to protect our youths. I can guarantee golden glove fighters would do well in those countries. Canelo was 42-0 against "seasoned pros" when he fought Mayweather yet most say Saul was still green.
It was for Jeff Horn and his family and friends. I can imagine the scene now - they're all having a great time sat around the barbie, one of his proud uncles is playing some Slim Dusty on his cherished acoustic, there's a beautiful sunset overhead and the ambience is punctuated with the infectious laughter of children playing on the trampoline. Then boxingforum24 forum member Babality waddles in with his breathing difficulties and tries to yell whilst spitting all over himself - 'An ancient Manny lost by controversial decision. Big deal.' The place falls silent and everybody thinks you're a complete dick. Yeah he was 'ancient' but he was expected to beat the guy comfortably, and went on to beat Thurman if you didn't notice. It was a bad performance, he got bullied for large parts of the fight.
