    78 fights 38 wins 34 losses
Consider him the most robbed fighter of all time if you like consider him a bum if you're from General...
Or you can do as i do and consider him one of the most amusing talented men to lace up gloves and by Floyds own mouth his toughest opponent!

I'd like you to help me fix his resume and figure out just how many fights he actually lost.

    Who is in?

Only 5 of the 34 losses are via stoppage.

    1) A TKO 7 against Jesus Chavez, the Chavez who fought both Erik Morales and Mayweather Jr, not the other Jesus Chavez who only fought Mayweather Jr. in what was Jr's 9th fight.

    2) Allen Vester in the 12th rd, with one second left in the fight, and the boxrec note says: "Emanuel, behind on the score cards, dropped to the canvas and allowed the referee to count him out as the bell rang. He got up on the count of 10 as the referee waved the fight off, because the bell cannot save a fighter. The local hero did score with a light right but it was clearly not a knockdown." Vester must be a Dane as the "local hero" and Burton fought in Denmark.

    3) Then it is the 9th rd TKO loss to Floyd. As mentioned, Floyd Jr, as well as Sr, (i wouldn't be surprised if uncles Roger, RIP btw, or Jeff ever mentioned similar opinions) have ALWAYS been nothing but absolute class in the praise they have given Burton/Augustus over the years for the performance and effort he gave in this fight*

    4) Wale Omotoso by TKO in the 9th rd, in a fight held in Australia. That, and the fact that Emmanuel was dropped in the 6th rd, is all the info regarding the bight that boxrec shows, surely there's more info elsewhere
    5) Ruslan Provodnikov dropped Emmanuel once in the 5th, and twice more in the 9th rd and thereby stopped Burton in what boxrec shows to be the only time Burton was stopped in consecutive fights. Burton lost his last five fights, doing so via Split Decision in 8, TKO in 9, TKO in 9, UD in 8, UD in 8.
There s also a DQ loss to an at that time 15-0 Stephan Smith (to bad not thee Stephan A. Smith) on account of a 3rd rd low blow, according to...take a guess?
There is a 2nd DQ loss to one Tomas Barrientes in 2004 and it doesn't read very well at all, it reads as though this is a fighter who might not have been in the best of mental health at the moment it occurred. Boxrec sums that up with the following:
Referee Laurence Cole stopped the fight in round 7 and disqualified Augustus for refusing to look at him, pushing him and cursing at him.
The IBA supervisor at the fight - Norm Longtin - stated after the fight "I've never seen Emanuel Augustus so unresponsive. It seemed to get worse and worse as the fight went along. It was like self implosion. He didn't want to listen to anyone."

    * just a quick side note. I recently posted 2 different versions of this fight on my YouTube channel after coming upon a pristine video quality upload of the English commentary international feed. That basically means, if you were to see this fight being played on ESPN Classic, this is the version they'd play. The first link* I am sharing here is commentated Alan Massengale, who has done his fair share of Top Rank international English feed commentary work and who wiki says was, or possibly still is, a sports anchor for a California TV station. His commentary performance here though is awful²², awful²² and such that I then had to remove the track and also post the video with the HBO commentary atop it, which is the 2nd link**

I trained a guy that had sparred with him, then subsequently sparred a lot of rounds with Floyd. When Augustus learned that my friend was going to work with Mayweather, he showed him a couple things that he had done to disrupt Floyd's rhythm.
When my friend was in the ring with Floyd he did one of the things Augustus had taught him. He told me that Mayweather stepped back laughing and said something to the effect of "he showed you that? That lovely gentleman is out there telling all my secrets."

I've posted this on here many times, but I got to see his first fight with Courtney Burton at the LC Walker arena in Muskegon Michigan. Burton was sort of considered the hometown guy, since he was from Benton Harbor, which is basically on the same highway as Muskegon, just further south.

I can't remember what year that was, but I was probably 15 at the time. I remember a group of black guys in the audience who were standing up and dancing while Augustus was show-boating.

Apparently the referee for the fight was mercilessly harrassed over the internet and crank callers that he basically left the boxing business. At least that's what I heard through the grapevine years later.

With a decent manager & a good team behind him Augustus could have become a champion. He never took himself seriously he didnt seem to real;ise just how good he was

Might be an outdated thread, but I've been meaning to make this list for a while myself. I'm going to include the fights that are "maybes", either because they're close or because there's no footage, only reports:

Draw vs Billy Coddington - relatively close fight and only a 4 rounder but the crowd booed the decision. Is a maybe.

Loss vs Pete Taliaferro - only evidence is from an article, is a maybe.

L vs Ivan Robinson - if you watch the broadcast it looks like Robinson wins a competitive bout, however, the broadcast cut some key rounds that we have to assume Augustus won because late in the fight they mention that Augustus has landed more punches. And not only more punches but more power punches, to which the commentators add that the jab is a better scoring punch .
The motivation for this one was that Robinson was looking ahead to a bout with Phillip Holiday (which he got). Can't really determine if Augustus won, but it was a robbery in that the result was a forgone conclusion. Fun fact Augustus took it on short notice and still took the fight to Robinson, making him turn his back to retreat on occasion. Robinson was a top contender at the time.

L vs Stephen Smith - Augustus dropped Smith with a body shot that was ruled a low blow, ala Courtney Burton I. Smith couldn't continue (have you ever seen someone unable to continue from a low blow??), and as a result Augustus was DQ'd. Smith's corner was known for shenanigans, and Smith himself for being susceptible to body shots.

D vs Soren Sondergaard - close fight, but Augustus dropped Sondergaard twice in an 8-rounder. After the fight Sondergaard's face is a mess and he looks like a beaten man. It looks like he apologises to Augustus post-decision.

L vs Teddy Reid - another fairly close one but a bout in which Augustus clearly won at least 7 of 12 rounds - he dominated the beginning and end of the fight. Crowd booed the result.

L vs Micky Ward - two judges scored the first round of this fight 10-8 and 10-7 for Ward despite there being no knockdowns.. Again, a close fight, but IMO it was either a draw or a 1-point win for Augustus. He beat Ward at his own game. Again, a robbery in the sense that the result was a forgone conclusion with the amount of bias for Ward in the arena that night. Ward even got away with hitting Augustus while he was down.

D vs Alvaro Aguilar - Augustus took this chump to school. The draw allowed Aguilar to stay unbeaten. Definite shenanigans.

L vs Courtney Burton - people already know the deal with this one. One judge had it 99-90 for Burton ffs.

L vs Herman Ngoudjo - a 12-rounder in which Augustus was the more aggressive and impressive fighter. Ngoudjo was like a statue for half the fight. Augustus also dropped Ngoudjo in the final seconds of the 12th. Ngoudjo's hometown crowd cheered for Augustus more than Ngoudjo after the fight.

L vs Sergey Sorokin - judges gave nothing to Emanuel (109-119, 109-119, 110-118) despite Augustus being busier and landing more. Sorokin landed the harder shots though and it was a close bout. Another one of those "forgone conclusion" results.

L vs Francisco Figueroa - another close one, but another in which Augustus just copped the short end of the stick.

L vs Charles Hatley - limited footage, but the crowd booed the decision. Hatley was dropped by the much smaller Augustus in the 2nd round but then floored Augustus twice in round 3. Scorecards are a little all over the place, from a 1-point Hatley win, to a 7-point win in an 8-rounder. Is a probable non robbery, but I'm throwing it in here for the hell of it because Augustus had a long rant after the fight.

L vs Vernon Paris - this one probably shouldn't be in the list either, but it's worth mentioning how crap the refereeing was (deducting multiple points from Augustus for trying to escape Paris' excessive clinching, while not warning Paris for holding/pushing throughout the fight). Old man Augustus hurt Paris with some body shots that could've won a 10-8 round if you're generous. Paris' hometown crowd (Michigan) booed the result too, although this was likely more due to a difference in popularity.
Either way, it was Augustus' final fight and symbolic of just how little Augustus was given a fair shake.

    Calculate that record, OP!
