Lee Wylie states on this film study that Whitaker was the best boxer of the 90`s, but nothing in this study proves that, were any other fighters beter than Pernell during the 90`s?

The best fighter of the 90s was Roy Jones

When you compare fundamentals & quality of opposition Whitaker is superior.

Whitaker, perhaps under fairer scoring, might have gone undefeated from his debut, at the end of '84, to the beginning of '97 - for a run of just over 12 years.

Yes ...This is true .....but Roy Jones was considered pound for pound king for most of the 90s ...Pernell Whitaker came on the scene in the late 80s. But even I agree that Whitaker is the greater fighter

I think he was. Lets ses:
    Dominated the great Azumha Nelson.
Has Mayweather,Pendleton,Paez, on his record as wins. Each of those fighters would or were champions and very soild fighters.
Also dominated Haugen and Haugen was a very soild fighter who was made to look incompent vs Pea. Also dropped Haugen which many cannot claim to have done.
Moved up and dominated a soild contender in Brazier. Capped that off with beating Pineda.
Moved up and beat Mcgirt TWICE.
Beat Chavez and the only people who think thats a draw are JC fanboys.
Then once again moved up and beat 53-1 Vasquez-the same Vasquez who beat Winky.
Lost a decison to De La Hoya in which I personally think he won. Even dropped Oscar.
Totally shot and managed to go the distance with Felix who coming into that bout had stopped TEN straight boxers.
Think about it: The first Rameriz bout was a robbery.
De La Hoya bout could be argued Pea did enough to win.
The only TWO losses on his record were when he was past his prime. And one involved Pea damaging his shoulder and being unable to continue.

Best fighter from 1987-1994, without question I think. Hated him then, appreciate his greatness now, as the rear view mirror is always forgiving. In fairness, I knew he was great in his heyday but could not stand him.

Personality. He'd refer to himself in the third person, never give credit to any opponent, and just seem detached and spacy in postfight interviews.

Do know what you get if you mixed Pernell Whitaker’s DNA with some of Sugar Ray Leonard’s DNA ?.....Floyd Mayweather ......he has so many of their positive and negative attributes at the same time

Bull@$#%. Chavez apologists say that. He was undefeated at the time. Nothing but sour grapes.
