Tua didn't face skilled big boys of today either, he fought in 1990s and at the beginning of 2010s. Besides, what large skilled HWs did he actually face outside of Lewis?
He was knocked down once, Uzcudun was knocked down (and out) only once in his career as well (against Louis in his last fight).
The problem is that i see tua beating carnera and buddy but i am not sure about Louis beating lewis so it is not a valid argument because they did not fight in the same era
You didn't answer the question because Tua didn't beat good SHWs. Maybe Tua would beat Carnera and Buddy Baer, maybe not. What we know is that Louis proved himself against much bigger fighters and Tua didn't.
What has Tua done to be mentioned in the same sentence as a Louis...Marciano...Dempsey......etc?. How about nothing!!!
Well the only facts that we know for sure, are that Louis beat Carnera and Baer, and Tua never managed any sort of equivalent wins in his own era. But let's assume that you are right. Would Louis have lost to Byrd, and drawn against Rahman in the other two most important fights of his career?
What a load of rubbish. A disorted portayal of happenings. Like taking mid 90s Tyson as a proof of anything. Tua had to fight the hottest 235lb power*chin prospect after he beat two future world champions. Then he messed up the biggest fight of his life coming in at shameful 245lb, but nevertheless went 12 rounds without any danger. He never managed to get into his best fighting weight of 22X again! Nevertheless, gave durable defensive artist Chris Byrd (who went tons of rounds with Klitschkos, Povetkin and others) a close fight. He became even more plodding after that, coming in at 24X to 25X for the next ten fights! At offensive swarming 5'10", this is obviously not the fighter you´d like take at best. Imho, he wasn´t at his best after 2001 anymore. Taking a punch, yes, but beeing agile at that mass, no. This content is protected For a true exact prime (or time spec.) H2H evaluation, you imho have to ask WHO is going to replicate the red marked 38-3 (86% KOs) stats without getting KOd fighting an Ibeabuchi prospect and one primed HW ATG. And I´ll guarantee you, even if you allow one KO-loss, its not going to be any of the Baers, Galento, Uzcudun, Schmeling, Sharkey, Braddock, Farr, Walcott etc. And thats exactly the problem: The fellows Louis resume (and H2H) is made off. At best, Tua was just better at stats and abilities than most of them.
Byrd was a pure defensive fighter while Louis was offensive! Why is that so hard to grasp?? And why is it so hard to grasp that Tuas durability (and power) is going to be a pure problem for offensive come-forward sharp punchers like Tyson, Louis or Dempsey regardless of greatness? No you stop living in equality no-weightclass wonderland. Weightclass exists (and did before) for a reason. Fighters got bigger? Adept evaluation, simple as that.
Woulda, coulda, shoulda, but didn't. I am also somewhat surprised that he was not more successful than he was, but the cold hard truth is that he wasn't. The bottom line is that he failed to deliver in all of the most important fights of his career, and that is what we have to judge him on. Would a fight against Joe Louis be the one where he finally broke the pattern of a lifetime? Highly unlikely I would say!
