Neither Laing or Simms could have beaten Ray in Montreal, toe to toe or any other way, Laing had a glass jaw and only counter punched v Duran, Sims would have been knocked out by Ray at 160.
By the way raul, everyones top 10s change in each division as new info is learned about different fighters. EVERYBODY'S! That is the fun of constant learning. A tree that does not bend breaks obtuseone.
Duran certainly was one of the greatest fighters I have seen in my lifetime- not always in the best condition but his wins over DeJesus, Moore, Leonard, Barkley, and others through the decades place him at # 1 in recent decades - last 50 years
Gotta love Duran. The case for him makes it very difficult to have him outside of the top-10 of all-time. He has to be considered as one of the greatest boxers, if not the greatest boxer, to have been active in the last 50 years.
Yes but was not talking about if hearns was worse or better. I said that their places are wrong in a pfp list. Period
So that was a motivated and prime Duran who fought Laing? Do you think Montreal Duran would have lost against Laing? By the way Laing was a gifted boxer. Also what’s wrong with effective counter punching?
Duran is one of my favorite fighters and is in my opinion the greatest lightweight to ever lace em on. If he fought at jr welter he probably would've been the greatest at that weight also. But he isn't the G.O.A.T . He shouldn't be over anyone's top 15 fighters in history. (Personally I rank him between 3-10) While I do respect others opinions, I would like to know from their perspective which fighters they would place over him in a top 10-15 fighters of all times regardless of weight class.
Duran was a phenomenal fighter. Inconsistent above welterweight but certain fights the Magic was there. It’s easy to forget he’d been fighting so long and was so great as a lightweight. I personally think he’s a top 10 all-time best and greatest.
I'll have a read of that later but I wouldn't argue with anyone who had Duran at number 1. Arguably the greatest lightweight ever, has one of if not the greatest signature win & fought on way past prime scoring some memorable wins.
