SRR, Armstrong, Duran all have strong arguments for being the top P4P. All had long careers, dominated for long periods of time and accomplished things that will never be duplicated. Make your argument for the top guy out of these 3 and you won't be wrong.
He could well be. He's definitely a candidate. For years and years I thought it was SRR, but over the last few years I've been educating myself on the career of Harry Greb. I have now changed my mind. What that guy did was unbelievable, especially as he'd probably fail the medicals today based upon on his eye. Whilst I understand people's frustration and caution about not having any footage of his resume, we have footage of his opponents and plenty of detailed accounts from respected people of the time.
I'd have to rewatch the box set... I have it upstairs.. Its just 17 cds.. None labelled.. They just say Duran 1,2,3 etc... I remember there being about 60 odd fights on it with the mauling of Buchanan and kobayashi? On disc one... I can't remember the simms fight unfortunately.. But in these times where I may get stuck in my house I might give it a rewatch... I remember liking the palamino fight where Duran just kicks his ass From my memory I remember Duran doing well against hagler but I didn't have him winning.. And that's before the championship rounds... Still.. How much of a double hard b*d do you have to be to go distance with hagler
Yeah, the Sims fight is a niece case where he was old, but still class and had a tear up with a guy who wasn't in his station. I'd love a collection like that. Unfortunately I just have YouTube, but it has everything I need. I've seen close to 50 Durán fights, myself, anyway.Palomino was an awesome welterweight too, Durán beat him pillar to post without breaking a sweat. Truly an ATG performace. Yeah, I don't buy winning the Hagler fight, but I've seen a few people argue it. From my memory, it was more-or-less 6-6 after 12, then the last 3 were razor thin rounds that could be argued either way, but in a fair world, they were Hagler's. So, Durán winning isn't out of the question, but it would've been a bad decision if he had.
He met a much bigger atg elite puncher, he wasn't chinny Duran so it has to be given as how devastating the Hitman was.
Years ago I used to work the night shifts when I lived with my folks 3 days a week and I kept my body clock set for night shifts so I was awake all night when I wasn't in and asleep during the day so I didn't see my friends that much so I passed the time by buying career box sets... I've probably got about 800 plus fights just on dvd lol
Your favourite fighters favourite fighter is very likely Roberto Duran. As legendary as it gets in Boxing.
