Who do you pick him over? I don't think he 'embarrasses' anyone, but I pick him over Duran and Leonard at 147 and possibly Hearns too.
Would have beat all 4 of the big 4. And ANYONE middleweight & under who came after them. By KO inside 15. Walker truly is was will always be 1 of the top of the heap greatest pugilists whoever lived. Pickled or straight he would punch the guts out of the best of them.
Walker was the mickey mantle of boxing....mantle may have become the best ever had he not been injured.....walker might have become the best ever had he not have been alcoholic....as it was hes in the top 4 ...still at his sober best he may have been unbeatable
Meh. He doesn't embarrass any of them. Personally, I see Leonard and Hearns beating him. Durán is a 50/50. Leonard's faster feet and ability to adapt on the fly would work in his favour, by forging a game-plan to beat Walker. He'd have to prepare to take damage and sting some hard combos into Walker whilst staying elusive. He'd have to be perfect, and would probably be accused of running afterwards, but I think he could do it. Walker could simply be too strong and too active, and impose himself on Leonard. He could cut off the ring and draw Leonard into a war, in which I have no doubt he'd win. Although I personally think Leonard has the speed, know-how and ability to out-box him. As for Hearns, I like the Hitman to do similar. Jab at range, stick his jab and time his right when Walker comes in. Walker's physicality is the real issue here, if he bullies Hearns, gets inside, and goes to the body(which would absolutely happen) then chip him away until he tumbles. He managed to get past Loughran's jab, so it's far from out of the question. I like Hearns' chances if he can keep Walker back which, with his cataclysmic power and length, I like him to do. Although, I'm much more confident in Hearns if it happens at 154. The Durán fight is really interesting to me; since Walker is bigger and stronger, but not as skilled or as quick. After an argument with @The Undefeated Lachbuster, I've changed my mind on it. I'd pick Walker in a close one, based on him forcing Durán back and being more comfortable in there. Durán's crisp infighting would let him land cleaner and clinchwork would keep him out of unnecessary trouble. That said, Walker's skilled brutishness probably takes the day. They're neck and neck, though.
