Despite 28 of his 35 wins coming inside the distance, I don't think Terry Downes ever took a guy out with a single shot. He used to sicken them.
I always liked guys that stopped opponents through an accumulation of punishment more than the homerun hitters. you get to see their skillset over a longer period of time. he gets enough love on here but james toney is high on the punchstat leaderboards with 2 or 3 entries against opponents who didn't even see the final bell. I know it was something like 486 punches landed against barkley, i'm having trouble finding the link with the compubox punchstat records but there are a list of fights with the most punches landed in a match. hopefully someone can post them.
The commentator described this ref as the “Mustachiod Buffoon” which was a perfect summing up of the fat cheating oaf.
George Foreman battered quite a few into complete submission. While he also had one punch Knock Out power he often thumped in shots to the body, shoulders and guard that almost liquified the internal organs of his opponent.
That is an excellent example. It some people seem to be confused on what I was talking about. But Toney is one of the best examples for this. He has made the 400 list twice with his beatdown of Iran Barkley or Charles Williams. That is perfect example
Jorge arce is also a good example. One fight that stands out to me is his fight against Thomas Rojas. Arce took a beating in the process but he just consistently bounced punches off this guys chin and eventually stopped him through an accumulation of punches. Floyd earlier in his career also just put it on guys, not with the hardest shots- but stiff enough that they couldn't take it anymore.
Jesus Whittaker really put on some high volume beatdowns despite being known for the defensive side of his game.
Margarito enjoyed pummeling guys into submission. Most vivid memory of him yelling at Cintron to get back up so he can continue beating on him.....brutal.
