Golovkin vs Alvarez 2, who has really won?

I thought Canelo won rounds 1-4 and 10-12. Many rounds were close and I can see a draw or even Golovkin winning. I do use the 10 pt. must scoring system so I consider defense, clean punching, ring generalship, and effective aggression.

I felt the rematch was just as close, with Canelo clearly winning, but can also see why someone would score it for Golovkin.

Golovkin did take a good ass whooping in the rematch, but did well enough to make the fight close on points.

I like the points RJJ made in the videos above. Boxing is subjective, so when GGG and his team talked a big MX game for months after the first fight and then on fight night decided to play it safe he looked like he was fighting to survive and not to win. That wasn't a good look.

Nonetheless the fight was close, but as Abel Sanchez said, Canelo deserved the win.

Scored it a draw last I watched it. And there’s no way on earth did Canelo win the round 10.

Gennady won the first fight, I believe there's a consensus on that. I had Canelo winning the second because I thought he landed the much harder shots , Canelo inflicted more pain on GGG than he received. As a matter of fact in Golovkins last fight I thought it looked like the decline that was seen in the Canelo fight has accelerating now. I can't see anyone thinking GGG would win a 3rd fight, but ,that's why they lace'em up.

 

It should have been a draw for the second fight, but the first fight GGG won.

Good, honest post. This is exactly my perception on the 2 fights.

 

You pay your money you make your choice I guess. Have you looked just how many ATG fighters thought GGG won both?? Many many more than your few. Look at ALL the polls there have been EVERY one had GGG winning in a landslide. GGG is RESPECTED Ginger is DESPISED!!
I wonder why

 

GGG very clearly won the first fight. Second fight very close, draw would have been fair or 7-5 either way.
