Training? We're talking a training video...training. Not actually fighting, but training. Really? Training. That's what we're talking about here...training. Training. Not in the ring with a real opponent, but training. Seriously. Training. You're talking about a training video. Training. Not a fight, but training. A 90 yr old video, not even speed corrected. Training. with apologies to Allen Iverson.
I have looked in to his career but I won't change my mind, Mayweather is technically light years ahead of him.
There were some fine fighters in and around Greb’s era. Don’t ever compare boxing to a sport like sprinting, which is a sport that is based upon racing against a clock to record the fastest time. It’s completely different altogether. You change the surface of a track and you record a different time. You change your footwear and you record a different time. You come out of different blocks and you record a different time. It’s a sport that literally deals in milliseconds. Boxing has evolved from the birth of the M.O.Q. but it doesn’t keep evolving. There’s elite fighters from that era who would be able to compete today: Harry Greb Gene Tunney Jack Dempsey Jimmy Wilde Benny Leonard Mickey Walker Max Schmelling
If you had looked into his career, you would have seen that being technically light years ahead of him, was no guarantee of success!
Floyd was technically superior to everyone he fought. It didn’t mean that he beat everybody easily. Read up on Greb’s style. Read up on how much pressure he put on guys and how many punches he threw. Ask yourself how he was able to beat MW’s, LHW’s and HW’s. He held his own against Jack Dempsey in sparring, despite only being about Floyd’s size.
And you would also find being technically light years behind Mayweather was guaranteed to be unsuccessful.
how is my life sad when I’m sitting here sipping the finest of teas, and snacking on the plumpest of blueberries
