I thought you seemed very rational until I heard this George.

my position is that I don’t take issue with him being ranked above those guys nor vice Versa. Once you get Into the upper echelon of top 10 guys it gets very complicated to assign definitive placements due to so many varying achievements, era circumstances and needless to say perspectives of fans and experts.... what I WILL say with certainty is that Floyd Mayweather Jr absolutely belongs up there in that fraternity... anyone who thinks otherwise needs to convince me with something other than the usual tired rhetoric of : “ he had too few fights, he fought bums, he jumped weights only when it suited him” blah blah blah..... The guy fought until he was forty years old and went out beating dudes who were younger, bigger and in a few cases STILL kicking ass even long after he was gone....

No, but I'm gonna guess that a lot of the fighters I'm going to need to rely on newspaper reports to understand why they're so great.

I'm being facetious, but I genuinely would like to hear it.

Well, it's going off achievements, not what they look like on film. There's certainly not 20 fighters that are far and away better on film, hell there's probably less than 10. That said, I think these guys accomplished more in their careers.

    That's fair.

You know my feelings on accomplishments I can't verify with my own eyes though.

Chuck me the 20 you have ahead of him then, let's hear it.

Think the best argument is that he never beat a fellow ATG in their physical prime.

    They don't.

Canelo wasn't prime and Hatton and Corales weren't elite fighters.

    How can you?

Mosley was faded and way past prime.

    Judah was never elite.

JMM was borderline elite but not on the level of an ATG.

Not many fighters fight fellow elite, ATG fighters whilst they're prime.

    It's rare.

You over generalizing again. You do realise that throughout history that there have been divisions that the US has not been dominant in? Your contention that Muhammad Ali only travelled because he enjoyed it is complete nonsense. The Thrilla in Manila and the Rumble in the Jungle didn't happen simply because Ali thought it would be a lark to travel. The biggest fights have not taken place in Vegas for most of the history of boxing and what a ridiculous thing to say that the biggest fights will always take place in Vegas and that the majority of the worlds best fighters will always be based in the US. Are we at the end of history?

    Just read through it.

How much do you think it would change, if it excluded any fighters who didn't have the majority of their respective accomplishments on film?

So Mayweather doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as Michael Spinks? WOW!
